Alexandra Road in Upper Hutt (back of Trentham Camp) used to be 100 k but the limit was dropped to 80. The only notification I saw of this was a small article in the local "Leader" rag. I'll bet the cops made a killing on that for a while. Yes the speed limit signs now show 80 but its been 100 km ever since it was sealed and put right through to Wallaceville - about 35 years. When a road has had a limit for that long what reason do regular users have to actually check the signs.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

If Tawa's main street warrants a 40 limit, what about Queen St, Cuba St, K Rd, etc.
Sorry, I forgot K Rd has a 20 k limit. Can't check out the hookers if you go faster.

Performance Bikes, the pommy magazine a few years ago ran a brake comparison test between a whole bunch of bikes and some fancy sports car fitted with ABS. As I recall all the bikes outperformed the sports car, so imagine how much better a bike would stop compared to a lumbering great Falcon!!

I've still got the mag at home somewhere and can post up the results if anyone is interested.

BUT! Surely...the speedsters will still keep speeding, not to mention the over cautious (just as dangerous!!) slow drivers will go even slower

As you can see I am at work & bored.

Yeah - even a Valkyrie beat the Rover 200 with Anti-Lock brakes, and traction control! In the wet! That was an awesome test that one.

Well ofcourse it will out brake a Rover 200, mainly because they are crap.

Now lets compare, i have the Braking specs of alot of bikes

    CBR900RR 98, 100kmh-0 in 37 metres
VFR 750 89 (yes 89) 100kmh-0 in 34.31 (best braking bike from honda)

    http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/3906/index.html

Look at the site to see the other distances, most are around the 36-40meter mark, but dont better 34 metres, To my knowledge some of the best braking cars are the EVO's and STi's that are in the 33 metre mark, most performance cars are in the 34-36 mark instead of most performance bikes whick are in the 36-40metre mark, therefore cars brake better than bikes

Theres a bit more to it than that though, a look at the deceleration curves seem to show that cars make up the difference as the speeds drop. In other words, they stop faster as they get slower. Bikes wash off speed quicker initially, less inertia.
