Darwinism... survival of the fittest... it's a theory anyways.

I'd rather die at 25 riding bikes than live to 50 taking the bus.

There are reasons for the post but damn, I don't force them on ya. Take the post at face value if you will. But I just thought a friendly reminder just might (used very loosely) wake a few of us up.

Im a very laid back guy and few things shake me up, my message was clear, just try stay safe on the road, or you can attempt to ride to crash, doesn't really bother me.
I have no problems with the intent of your post Stu.

I know I don't "ride to crash" and I'd hope that the people I choose to ride with are of the same goal.

But it can (and unfortunately, does) happen. To some riders who are considered very capable in fact. That's just it, accidents can be the poor intersecting of a series of factors/events. Yes, definitely including rider error, but also a whole host of extraneous influences. Just trying to be the other opinion for these fallen riders, who are hurting enough as it is.

I just don't like sweeping statements such as crashe's viewpoint.

Good post. Except for the generalisations made about speed.

Stay in your comfort zone and always leave a little room for a "way out" if something unexpected happens. Other than that shit happens so try and stay safe but not at th expence of the reason you ride

Well fuck me. Good post Sniper, I'll bear that in mind next time I decide to go for a ride with the express intention of falling off.

Sorry people, you don't want to read about bike accidents, go read the Womens weekly. This is a BIKE site full of BIKERS who RIDE. Someone's gonna fall off, and some are going to want to post it.

Asking for help and/or advice is often a good way of staying upright for a bit longer too.
Recently had two people I have a lot of respect for (riding ability and experience) chase me around the local windys and give me advice on what I was doing wrong.
Am now taking corners wider; better view, smother lines... and faster; less braking, higher exit speed...
Its easy to slow down, but how many of us will stay 20kph slower than what we have been doing for the past 10, 15, 20+ (16 for me, still young and pretty) years? Especially when a fellow rider goes blasting past with a "lets play" grin?
Tracks are the only place we should be speeding but we can’t book them out every weekend! And road riding is so much fun. Not too many 500k long tracks with a few good cafes spread about them ether!
Most of us who ride near the edge will bin it sooner or later, how we come out of the other side is down to luck, the gear we had on, and the vital two seconds we had to prepare for the impact.
The reason I had my last crash was a bad habit that caught up with me, and we all have them. My mistake was not seeking advice earlier.
There is no pride swallowing to ask for a few pointers, you want to be a better, faster and safer rider? Or do you get embarrassed when you are buying a new set of leathers or a helmet?
"I don’t want to buy a helmet caus then they will think I need one caus I cant ride"
Sniper's right, we need to be safer on the roads, I've been to too many funerals and have no desire to bury any more friends.
We all have our little obsessions...
