Back end breaks traction, as in picture. Back end re-gains traction causing the rear suspension to load up, bike straightens up a little and as it does so the loaded up rear suspension flicks the rider off on the "high side", pretty much over the handle bars. It happens real quick, its ugly and it hurts. Don't go there. Just watch some superbike or Moto GP races, you'll soon see what a high side is.

I'm with you on this. The guy looks in total control... look at the posture. No panic here. Surely he would have dropped it at this point if he didn't intend on sliding to this extreme?

... or was he setting it up to scandinavian it into a right-hander (his right)?!
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

I think you're right, most would of started bail out procedure at this stage,he looks in total control alright - Kenny Roberts would be proud.

Is there one black line, or two black lines on the track?

Two black lines would suggest, he'ld done the same last time round, & knew it was coming.

One black line would suggest, It's all over rover!

Yes he looks like he is in control but he is very very low. I think he is too low. That black slick from his tyres looks like he is powering on. If that is the case I would think he is going down. His front wheel does not look as if it is lined up to counter the back coming round further. Can not wait to see the next pic.

Saw a nice high side today out at the britten races.

Guy riding a GSXR600 in the 600 production race. Was coming 3rd or 4th and just over cooked it coming out of the long right hand sweeper. The other guys all got out of shape on the laps before, but this guy just went a little further. It looked really kool. All happened so fast, the guy was alright, just a few broken fairings and footpegs etc. Guy seemed alright. Can't remember who it was, bike was yellow though, lol.

So what is his best option?

Hold throttle as is, and hope it recovers?

Open throttle further? (would it cause the back to come right round? - Low side?)

Close the throttle? (Would that cause the back to suddenly snap back, hurling the bike and rider into a highside?)

What are ya talking about?? It's not serious yet. I do this every day!

I knew you'ld say that KK!

Just a bit of a reveiw, to keep us prepared

yeah.. i was gonna say 'he's done' before white trash gave it away. he's just way to far gone for my liking. having watched that video of garry mccoy's controlled rear slide I was suitably impressed, but this bloke is much further down and has the rear nearly overtaking his sorry butt. definitely a good option to keep the gas on and go for a controlled slide along the deck rather than the alternative superman.. of course, that takes a rather cool head in a very hot moment

If one could see the rider from behind - me thinks he would be trying to slow the rear tire with his butt cheeks also
