    Cool

I have never paid yet to park my m/bike out at Auckland Airport (international or domestic)

At the International - I ride up around to where the drop of area is.. go up the footpath and park in where all the cars are parked.. I park and lock up the bike in a safe place.
When I leave I go out the same way... and continue past the drop off section and home I head.

Over at domestic terminal - I park in the undercover section (new parking area there now.) and head out the same way...... I go around the barriers or over the curb.

Now parking the car out there costs a HUGE fortune... hence me taking the m/bike.

I reckon you're justified not paying as long as you can park in a place that's not designated as a park as they will not have lost any revenue.

Wot's all this paying for parking rubbish??? Councils are more than happy for people to bring their bikes to town that why they have motorbike parking areas - that aren't charged. I've never paid to park a bike at the airport or in town coz there's no need to.
The company I work for has done the majority of the design for some of the major airports around the country, I might just dig out the plans and find out where the bike parking areas are. I may be (shooting myself in the foot) able to post a couple of pdf's of layouts....

I love the pay parking area at AKL, y' can can nip out the path on a bike, & the curb down the North end is low enough to drive out over in my suzuki 4x4 - and conveniently out of sight of the pay booth. I wonder if they go looking for the vehicle once it's supposedly been there for a month or so

    That's a very good idea!
If bikers know where to park, then those spots may get used more often - possibly encouraging the land owner to put more bike parking in!!!

This maybe a little off the topic but, I'm not sure where to park when I go places in general, and when you say "lock up the bike" does that mean with a big chain to a lamp post? I've also seen some bikes parked up on the sidewalk that re-direct the pedestrian trafic flow, I'm a bit werry of this as kids love to touch and may get burnt on the exposed pipes.

if i can park in a bike park, i can. but sometimes theres not one nearby, so ill park in a way so as to leave room for other bikes/scooters to park alongside if they wish and chuck a coin in the meter. havent tried parking on the footpath yet, certainly wouldnt do it unless i was in a group where others were doing it.

i did see a biker at tepapa slip through the drop down gate and park up without taking a ticket thingy. not sure how he would of got out though...that gate leaves no room for slipping, and is manned.

Back to the airport for ten days question. Have done it in a cage and found the cheapest option was to lose the ticket and pay the maximum fee. Normally one days worth.

to those parking at auckland international airport -

go to the main car park (on the left just before you come up to the domestic terminal) there are three gates 1. Uncovered, 2. Uncovered on the roof, and 3. Covered... go into the gate on the far right this will take you to the covered parking, go straight to the end of the car park and go into the righthand corner, there is a big empty corner by the edge of the upper level, approx 5m x 4m most days there is a GSXR1000, and RS250 and my R6 there.
I think the charge is around $36 a day, cant remember the hourly rate BUT IT DOESNT MATTER COZ YOU DONT PAY. Just ride around the gates as per usual.

At international, im not too sure, there is designated bike parks around the back but its for workers only i think, and its usually 99% full anyway. As said just park it in a corner. I wouldnt bother paying either way. If you saw how often the carparks at the airport are less than 50% full you would feel sick at having to pay as much as you do for the parking space.
