    Vehicle history: Number to text?

What was that number you text to check the history of a vehicle? does it work with VIN numbers or will I need to get a VIR for that?

A VIR costs $25 - and a completely worth it. I was gonna shell out $5k for a bike that I didn't know the history of. After I got a VIR, and spoke the previous owner I found out how badly the bike had been banged up. Although I spent $25 I saved myself a whole lot of money (incl. the cost of the bike) later on.

General rule of thumb is that if you think you need a VIR then there is something wrong.

Here's a brochure telling exactly what to do. You can use the VIN too, handy.

Not sure, but when I went to register a non plated bike I had to go to the police to get a signed thing to say nothing was untoward about it...... but someone may actually have an answer for you.
