Won't be going back there again!!

A mate of mine bought a couple of pairs of Alpinestar gloves back with him from the states about a couple of weeks 1 for him 1 for me...when he dropped them off I found that the large were a little long in the finger so I was a bit gutted and thought I may have to sell them and purchase another pair.

I though the bike shop where I take my bike for servicing may be able to help so I went in to see the guys... I told them the situation that I had the gloves in brand new cond still in the original packaging and had never touched the bike and if they would possibly be able to help me out by exchanging them for the medium sized ones they had on the shelf (same model same colour). The sales guy said no he didn't want to take on any more stock (which doesn't make sense as you are swapping one pair for another) So I accepted his decision and went home.

I had to go back to the store the next day to get them to fill in my service/warranty manual, once they had I asked again if they could help me with glove situation, again they said no so I asked who the other Alpinestar stockists in Auckland were, they said noone in town but they think someone on the shore does but then they said don't bother going there because they aren't a nice bunch over there!! (Ah but neither were they!) How bad is that! putting down other motorcycle dealers even after they didn't even want to try to help out a paying customer!.

I have told all of my mates about there crap customer service and they will be losing more than one customer thats for sure.

I wasn't annoyed that they said no about the gloves but it bugged me that they put down other motorcycle dealers when they couldn't even or didn't even want to help me themselves.

What do you really expect, it works both ways.
If you bought the gloves from them then there would be no probs.....sure you use them for servicing but that doesn't give you any right to expect them to bend over backwards for you.
The large gloves might not be a good seller and they might be stuck with them for months.....at least having the medium pair they are appealling to a larger audience.
Perhaps if you'd bought a heap of bikes from them it might have given you more clout.

cry baby, i would of never exchanged the gloves. for all the bike shop knows you coud of stolen them (not saying you did). also do you think they coud of just got annoyed about you asking them to do something over and over?

also if you dont want to mention a shop dont tell them that much info. all of us now know the shop your talking about and thats not nice to the bussiness.
Well what would you do? Run through the streets stark naked at 350 miles per hour with bells on your toes?

Pot, meet Kettle!! i think i know the parts guy you would've spoken with and I'm not surprised you got fobbed off. Nice guy, but not terribly bright...

Phone round any of the other bike shops or Motomail, they're all fairly decent guys, and would more than likely be able to help you out.

Oh, and BTW: you're more likely to be able to sell size L gloves than med's.....do the math: majority of guys riding bikes...how many do you know with princess sized hands?
Jim-bob the mechanic, Greymouth: That tyre's fkd..it wouldn't even make it to CHCH!

MV: "phew, just as well we're not goin to CHCH, then...we're off to AKL!!

I dont blame you for not going back...I will only deal with one bike shop in this town because all the others here have tried to rip me off. Trying to get a new set of tyres for the ZZR 1100, cash buyer...and they wouldnt even look on their computer to see what was available. Told them where to go & will never go back.
One was even a so called friend and tried to charge me more than the parts were worth...all the while telling me "I'll do you a good deal". Yeah right! A good deal for them.
Stick to your guns Fishslayer...there are plenty more shops around that will go out of their way for you.

Flash...It's not good for business when they wont even try to help you so they deserve to be exposed.

Cycletreads are awesome! I've ordered a couple of sets of tyres and brake pads from them in akl and they've arrived within a couple of days and have given me free shipping both times! Maybe next time you need a set of tyres go and see them and have a chat to them about the gloves while you're there and see if they can help you out. They've got a huge range of stuff.

Flash - No the gloves weren't stolen and I had my proof of purchase with me at the time. I had been into that store on numerous occassions and have spend a fair amount of money with them.

It was 3 different people that basically told me to get lost and didn't even consider helping out one of there customers.

I ended up getting a size medium from Mt Edens who were more than happy to help me out and to top the day off I got a ride on the 05 ZX10 demo. Mike at Mt Edens has always been really helpful when I have been in there.

Tough to get too upset at them. I mean they don't have to help you and they would be within their rights to be a little wary. But in saying that there are ways to say things without upsetting people.

What actual size are the gloves and how would you want for them?
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Gloves are gone mate, Mt Edens were more than happy to help me out. Swapped them on the spot for medium ones and gave me a ride on the 05 ZX10 demo to help wear them in.

Can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink. Make up your own minds, people.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
