Actually there were a few bikes that went past me this morning, without wanting to restart that previous thread.
    (But I didn't see any 636's )

I did stop in a precarious place where the Gorge onramp meets the Hutt Motorway. Of course the bike wouldn't run out of petrol in a much easier place to get off.........

Funny thing was yesterday I was thinking that the old girl is getting really good economy at present,...ha ha she was about to bite back at me !!

Woulda been about 8.55. I'm figuring you were clear by then. I should have noticed something there (if there was something there!), since I usually do a quick scan as I come over the rise just in case a "threat" is parked around that area.

Was between about 8.50 and 9.00am so, yes 8.55 would be right.

All ended well, and made a great story for here !!

Oh, okay, I'll go and hide in shame now then.

I think since I've started working in town again that my focus has got narrower and narrower - I used to see everything, but the traffic on the urban mway is a whole differenly level of nutters to the Hutt traffic. I'm starting to see only those cars immediately in range. Not good when you don't notice the uniformed fuzz parked up... almost too late that one was!!

No need to hide in shame.

The AA dude was excellent. He was passing to another job when I saw me and stopped to see if I was okay. He got some petrol out after I told him what had happened. When I told him I wasn't a member and didn't have any cash on me (I pay for everything with Eftpos) he still gave me about 3 litres of fuel and said don't worry about it. He stuck around and made sure the ZX-10 fired up. Then when I was all suited up and all was fine, he left.
He will definitely get a beer if/when I see him in a pub.

Cudos to AA and I am definitely going to join.

    ..

    bad luck... good luck..

pleased it worked out for ya.

I have only run out of fuel once and that was when I brought my gpz250. I picked it up from the guy I brought it off and was going along alright and it coughed and spluttered and I had all sorts of thoughts running through my head. LEMON I thought. Bugger it. Then common sense kicked in and I thought fuel!! So I turned the switch and it still died. checked the tank and she was bone dry. I made it about 15km. YAY. I surpose I should have checked the fuel when I brought it.... YAY for cellphones...

I rode back down the motorway late this afternoon, past the place where I ran out this morning. This time I had nearly a full tank of gas but there was still a bit of trepidation as I went past there. Funny how the old mind works against you sometimes.
