Just so you know, I have never been scared of pain or injury, I am not trying to be hard, I just want to ride my bike.

I understand that for at least a week Im not to be on the bike, but surely after that? Whats a good idea? Stay off or risk it?

I want to hear from those who may have had this "problem" before.

BTW, its my scaphoid bone that is broken in half, or crushed, they can't tell. In my opinion, its not serious, I have another arm. The doctors tell me that if I have crushed the bone, they will need to operate.
Be careful with scaphoid injuries - I have heard the bone gets poor blood supply and can rot. Eeeew.

I broke my right arm years ago and carried on riding (GP125...wooohoo) - it was tricky and probably a little stupid but I managed. I had to twist the end of the throttle between my thumb and fingers and re-arrange my hand position when wanted to use the front brake.

    hahahaha already found out.

IMO i think the evidence speaks for itself, stay off the bike for two weeks i will even stay off mine as a kind gesture to you.

Sniper has to be the most accident prone person i know, after his last accident i had managed to keep him accident free for 7 and a bit months and then i go and fracture his scaphoid.................kinda defeates the purpose.

That is OTT- just go out for a wee pootle (taking his keys,of course) and return in a week or two and tell him all about your adventures. I'm sure he wouldn't stay off his bike if you were the one unable to ride..

Snapped mine clean in half playing rugby...continued the game and shook hands afterward and at the post match speeces etc etc...bloody sore.

Went out to a work do that night and the whole thing swelled right up and got my arm out of the jacket sleeve just in time so they didn't have to cut the jacket off...

Scaphoids have a shit blood supply... LET IT HEAL!!!!!!

Mine took ages, three plasters, bloody thing wouldn't knit together... ended up having surgery and now have a pin through it... works fine now and ya can make up stories about the scars, but... rather would have it mend on its own without surgery...

Good advice on here, listen to it and go and see a good hand specialist physio as soon as you can.

I broke my schaphoid twice, and did a lot of soft tissue/ligament damage into the bargain. At the time of the secong break I was training six days a week at boxing/thai boxing and didn't want to rest it as long as I should have. Just strapped it up when I re-strained it, that sort of thing. Doh!

Two months ago I decided it was time to go see the physio when someone handed me a book and I coldn't hold it- man that hurt! I haven't been able to punch pads or a bag for over a year now, and it SUCKS. Don't know if I ever will, either, even though I have a heap of exercises and stuff.

Don't be as stupid as me...

Two weeks is nothing,I was in plaster for 8 weeks with mine and it was probably just about the same again until I had full strength and movement back once it was out of the cast

Yeah, two casts for me, one for 4 weeks, one for two, then a half cast for four, and then a sport support type elastic and velcro thing for a couple of months.

    Arrow Simple.

Stay off the bike. A few weeks is not much. However you don't want to regret it for the rest of your life do you???

Guys, please dont scare me too much with the aftershocks. It pretty shitty being off the bike, but things happen for a reason, so hopefully its not too much of a biggie. Im just praying that its not crushed, I hate ops

That's nothing. You wait until you find out what she has planned for your testicles.

MissSniper: I want my half bricks back when you're finished.
