OK - ignorance flag being waved here... "hooked second" means what exactly (I can imagine, but I'd rather actually know).
And why is it such an achievement? I not saying it isn't, I just don't know![]()

hooked second = engaged second gear.
it's a big deal, cos the front wheel was way up in the air at the time. So that involves keeping the bike up long enough for the (I assume) clutchless shift from first to second
and no, she won't clean your house![]()
For some people changing gear on the back wheel is quite a challenge, something to be proud of once you've acheived it. For some of us it just happens naturally.
Yep and I'd be the former of the two at this stage. Power stands are no worries obviously but doing them "on purpose" is something I do need/want to learn. Something with learning on my new bike has me concerned but have organised a practice with another "learner" too.Originally Posted by onearmedbandit

I've officially retired from even attempting a 'proper' wheelstand on my current machine (other than getting it up on the power in 1st). I got the fker up nice n sweet the other day/week - the best I'd ever managed on the Bird. I almost hooked second but shat out at the last minute. Then I landed the thing, and I swear it came down harder than a spotty teenager after a night on Elephant strength herbals. It scared the shit out of me, and almost flicked me off with the violent head shake.
And I looked like a twat trying, because they were so lame.

Ever tried clutching it up in second at about 65-90km/hr?
do it all the time, good fun![]()
LOL mine pops up at 140 with no clutch...so im not keen on cluthing it up at 65-90 it comes up at that speed no probs in first, in the right conditions i can lift the front in 3rd at around 165...Originally Posted by Fishslayer
