The tank slap is caused by the front wheel coming up spinning at about say 20 kmh, then after you have gone through a few gears and put it back down, your poor old front wheel has to go from 20 kmh to 220+ kmh in a nano second. yeah, a dampener helps, but the main thing I found to eradicate this problem is, roll of the throttle then as the bike passes out of the balancing point, you roll the throttle on hard just before the front makes contact and the bike seems to force the wheel to catch up with out tank slapping.
