Price gaps-gsxr

Okay, the 600 starts at 15,995 the 750 is 18,995 and the 1000 starts at 22,995 (according to the suzuki nz website).

So why the big difference in price? From what I can tell they are within 5kgs in weight, would involve a very simular if not the same level of development, machining, technology and materials. So why is there 7 grand between em?

Is it just marketing differentiation? Are we paying 7k more just because we think bigger is better?

i would say better performance and higher quality suspension. but that is only a guess

They are aware that those with limited endowment will happily pay the extra cash to make up for inadequacies elsewhere (pt)

As with everything it's market driven. Why would Suzuki price it's 1000 much less than Honda's or Kawasaki's, short change themselves on profit (which is needed for further development), cheapen the value and resale value of their product etc etc.

Three different markets. Entry-ish level 600cc class, balls-out f*ckingfast litre bike, 750cc real world sportsbike class. Zuki are trying to sell bikes in all three categories and if you price them close together everyone would just buy a litre bike...and probably kill themselves.

I would say by far. How many different components are there in a 600? Maybe development costs would be different, but still...

Think how much of a better rider do you have to be to get the most out of a 1000?

I think Honda's 1000RR has been priced at 18 or 19 grand for quite a while now. And you get a lot more bike for you buck aswell, cause they are heavier than the GSXR.

My opinion is that the GSXR is considered top dog amongst the jappers at the moment, and thus they reflect that in price. It is the lightest out of the big 4 jap brands.

Titanium ain't cheap! And the thou has a full titanium zorst system. You don't even get a zorst on the 6 hundy!
Also, the reason behind the limitation of K5/K6's is apparantly due to the shortage of the Titanium availablity.

Perhaps it's the benchmark engine!!!

Perhaps the extra electronics with Gear Indicator, shift light. Perhaps the slipper clutch adds more to it.

Or perhaps, Marketing is about Supply and demand. The manufacturers have decided they can sell a full annual production batch that price max! Hence maximum profit.

But really, Maybe Suzuki International saw Skelstar riding one in the Wairarapa and are now cashing in!
