    First time on the track.

I went down to Puke yesterday to the car show/track day with a couple of friends,to see if we could steal a few laps in between the cars, it was a bit touch and go there for a while but we ended up getting a few laps in for free towards the end of the day.

Right from the start it was all on, I’ve been around the track plenty of times in the car but turn one is a completely different corner on a bike and it scared the shit out of me as I went in there for the first time a little beyond my skill level, but thanks to my trusty VTR which I think can take abit more than I can throw at it, managed to make it through and from there on it was all fun and games, I only managed 220-225 down the back because I’m not that keen on out breaking my self into the hairpin, and about 200-210 down the front but Jenian gave me the shit’s to much to try any more.

I was stoked to find out I could keep with my mates TLR, he would get about 10-20m on me down the back straight which I was more than happy to accept, and a bit of a gap down the front straight but nothing I couldn’t pull back through the twisty’s, so I’m going to take a closer look at my bike to see if there’s more to it than just the cans with next to no packing and the braided brake lines.

I had a hell of a time and I’m sooo stoked about how the bike performed, but I don’t think I’ll be taking it out there too often, I’m just a little scared I’ll get too keen into turn one again and end up on my ass, and I now have huge respect for the guys who race around there, you have some BIG balls!!

So I think the three of us will be on the look out for a racebike/track hack to play on.

I've only been on there once on the old FXR and even though I topped out on both the front and back straights with plenty of track left to go I still had an awesome time. I'm real keen to take the ZXR out there for a blat but It'll have to be on a Saturday track day which unfortunately don't come around too often.

I was talking to the track manager guy, the one with the scare crow haircut, and there's a saturday session this week! he said according to their website there's alot of "race car" only days but they've scrapped that and anyone can come along, bikes included.

Good to read mate, looks like you had a great day
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
