Santa was late, but its here now

I would like to introduce a new bike to the KB gargre. Went and picked her up yesterday morning from Mt Eden. Wanted to grab some scenic pictures of her in a good spot, except there were nasty cars ruining the view, so you'll have to make do with ones from Clevedon.

She's a 1996 Kawasaki ZX-7R P1, first of the new shape, when most of the suspension bugs had been ironed out. Even better, a previous owner has fitted an ohlins rear shock, braided brake lines, and a muzzy pipe, that announces the arrival of the 750cc engine. Also, the tail has been reduced to the digits on the plate (chopped to the digits, very nice) and indicators. A radar mount is there for the future too

Two rides so far, all up done about 300km. Trying to take it easy, but the bike seems very well set up, giving me huge confidence to just drop it into the corners at will, but I'm not pushing the speed, not from stepping up from the zzr250.

Needless to say, the bike rocks, seems to be in very good condition. It makes mincemeat out of any traffic, and pulls from 1700 revs in traffic. Gear changes for overtaking aren't really required, unless you want to be done real quick. I really really love her, and hope to have many years yet to enjoy.

So, for those like skelstar, drool away

    Well done Santa.

Isn't it cool how the 7R, 10 years on, still looks great.. Especially your one. Well done.

least you didn't smash this one up eh??

I wouldn't know, plenty of time for that later when I have a better grasp on it. I'm finding I'm actually (on the whole) better at obeying the speed limit now. The pipe sounds soo good, I'm not fussed to push it to the limit.

But of course ya gotta overtake the odd car, so then you break the limit big time

To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
