    Levels

Went to Levels yesterday with the Thomas Luthi fan, both really enjoyed the racing (shes now a fan of Karel Pavlich, after her wicked ride ) but the thing that really struck me ( probably 6 yrs or more since I last went) was where were all the people ?? It used to be hard to get a park but now you could fire a shot gun and be lucky to hit anything. Lack of advertising??? What?

    Yup

Real shame - i rode down in a bit of a southern gale. Never been to levels b4. No signposting from the main rd. Bit of a shame considering where the track is nested!

So unless Joe Bloggs heard about this event on the one radio ad that i heard play then they didn't know it was on. Thats the smallest crowd i've even seen at a racing event. They get more people at the buckets at ruapuna.

Which is a shame cos there was some great racing - not a lot of passing but still some good close stuff and good talent esp. the 125's.

Karel P did real good after that crash to get back out and ride as hard as she did.

Looked like the Dynamix boys had a bit of a mixed meet (also looks like a good setup they have there - plenty of spares!!!).

Good to meet Kwaka Kid - genuinely nice guy - now thats racing on a budget! I have an image of his rear tyre you'd have to see to believe - hinted at a small issue with rear suspension setup maybe? He'll find it slighly harder at ruapuna vs the SV650's unfortunately.

revenge I couldn't get down to Teretonga or the Levels, but I'll give logan a run for his money at ruapuna hopefully.

It's a bugger about the lack of spectators, not sure if it's lack of advertising or just general apathy on behalf of the public. We'll never get big sponsors wanting to support bike racing if there's no-one getting the message.

Yeah sucks when the racing's so great. At what i would class as NZ's best track and its a pretty good track for spectators too.

I think that the current situation with bike racing in NZ is looking up. Numbers over all classes are up this nationals compared to last season (apart from 250gp) and the competition is better than ever. Hopefully in 5 years time we will be fighting the NZ V8's for our share of sponsors and spectators.
