You think we got it bad?

    This from the CBR250 forum (http://www.cr-x.org/cbr250/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=30474 )
" This sucks, I was riding home from work alledgedly doing 125km/h (30km/h over), $575. Failure to display L plate, $175, ALSO I purchased my bike in Victoria a month ago and It was still registered, or at least I thought it was, until March this year. Apparently because I Reside in NSW the vic registration is Null & Void, costing a mere $450. Due to the bike being 'unregistered' this makes the compulsory third party insurance Null & Void also which is a fine of around the $600 mark.
I received Penalty notices for the first 3 fines on the spot and the kind officer is going to check into the 4th for me and send an infringement notice if correct.
He also said that he would be travelling in the opposite direction and didn't care if i rode home on the bike...
The folks aren't too happy and neither am I, is there any way I can get out of paying that much?
Bit of a slap in the face considering I wasn't hurting or endangering anyone else, Bastards"

Aussies are getting reamed compared to us. Even so, I know plenty of walkways in my area where I can do low speed runners.

Holy Moly. Wonder when the LTSA will mimic what happened just there and have certain rego zones. "Sorry, you're bike was registered in Wellington, doesn't count here. $400. Also I think you're stock exhaust is too loud. $200 and 10 demerit points."

How much is it to register your vehicle in each state over there?

Weird. I've driven vehicles interstate in Aussie. Never heard of rego being invalid.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Bloody hell, that sucks.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

You think it wont happen? They have already just passed a law which gives cops the right to ticket any vehicle they "think" is too noisey! Wont be too long before someone with a stock vehicle gets ticketed.

Why's that so much worse than here? Have you read the "$1300 in fines" thread.
Or any of the others where cops have written multiple instant fines?

bykeycop was doing good when he did that, he was lucky not to be hit by the pond scum who was not even wearing his required corrective lenses. Good on bykeycop.

what happens if you're on a tour, or stay somewhere for a month or so in another state?
Not sorry on the speeding or not displaying the L plate, that's his problem. But he should have been told when he bought the bike about the rego etc. He could appeal?

It is only because he lives in another state and had not registered the bike in that state, he was waiting for the old rego to run out from when he´d bought it. They recognise regos across states but he lived in one and owned a bike rego´d in another - a bit weird, but surely a case to cut some slack?

Doesn't sound right to me. If you are permanantly residing in another State, you have so long (3 months) to change it over, as far as I know. People are travelling around Oz all the time and it would be ludicrous if your rego was invalid over the boarder.

My bike rego cost me $215.20 for a year when I renewed it last (W.A). Factored in: Licence Fee - $49.35; Insurance - $129; GST - $12.90; Stamp Duty - $14.35; Recording Fee - $9.80.
The insurance is compulsory third party injury only.

Probably more 'got out of the wrong bed' and he was on his way home to change

I'm not debating the right or wrong, just pointing out that it happens.
