    2,500cc,218 HP KTM

Check out this 2500cc Harley powered KTM hillclimber - I wouldn't want to be on it when it looped! Not too impressed with the frame mods, but we can't see the whole thing...you sure wouldn't want the frame ripping apart when you unleashed it.

Interesting. Anyone actually seen a hill climb comp? They say it is uniquelly American. Sounds like it might be fun to watch.

    holy moo..
bet it's top speed is still 87kph. How much more power can you put thru one wheel? Still, it's impressive. The block doesn't look like a 2.5ltr

You can see some good old Yanky hillclimbing On Any Sunday, and yes it's uniquely American. What we called hillclimbs over here were gravel or sealed road sprints up a hill - like the Race to the Sky in Queenstown. But they sort of faded away in the late 60s,kinda a shame as I was getting pretty good on gravel in the early 70s and there was no way I could compete in any sort of gravel riding...although I did a rally sprint in the early 90s.

An enduro will have a killer hill that stops most riders, and we often have a hillclimb in a trial, but they often make us do a turn somewhere so we can't get a good run on.But we have done hillclimbs where the points are awarded for how far you get up.....trials bikes are superb hillclimbers, but the short wheelbase and good traction means they are prone to looping, and I've done a few very big loops! I love a good hill, and to get up them needs the ability to make a balls out mad charge, but at the same time pick a good line.

I think everyone's imagining the wrong sort of hill climb. This isnt like the race to the sky style hill climb we have here, this is more a mad dash up a near vertical cliff face. The higher you go, the steeper it gets. Its a pretty crazy sport, and the guys that do it have to have nad's the size of moonhoppers.

Cool Stuff, you see it on sky every now & then, definitely one of the crazier forms of motorcycle sport.

The 700cc class 660 KTM pictured aint an LC4 like it says though, that must be a bored out RFS engine.

    Cheers

The crazy icelandic people who do it in there 1000hp plus trucks up near vertical scree are pretty impressive as well, plus they can drive on water!
