Karangahake Gorge now all 80KM Zone

What the hell?? Karangahake Gorge One of the nicest roads to legally have some fun and its gone went through there yesterday now a big thumbs down

I guess its to keep the number of white crosses down but man its annoying. Like the stretch from Hatfields beach to Wellsford - used to be great now an 80KM zone
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..

im geting sick of them just slowing traffic down instead of fixing it
Well what would you do? Run through the streets stark naked at 350 miles per hour with bells on your toes?

Got to look at it from their point of view
Roads are to get people from A to B, not to have fun on! That's what the track is for.

I bet anything it WILL NOT reduce accidents. So what will they do when 80k's doesn't work? Reduce it to 60? Then what?

Well gotta say, since when did a dble yellow line and 80km speed limit deter a biker? (disclaimer:in no way do I endorse this sort of behaviour... ) And anyway how the hell is a cop gonna pursue ya thru there? Plus theres really only a couple of obvious places where a speed camera wagon could be parked...

Surely not the whole way . Bloody stupid if it is as it'll only raise peoples frustrations and cause nutters to attempt dumb arsed over taking manouveres. Surely overtaking lanes are the way to go to keep it all flowing nice 'n safe

By all correct me if I'm wrong, but double yellow lines only mean you cant cross over them, not that you cant over take. You just have to overtake without crossing the centreline.

well you wouldnt want them to do something logical like improve our roads to reduce deaths? no the will just lower the limit, knowing people will continue to drive at 100 and die, but now they get more revenue!!

Very good point! How many people actually manage the top speed thru' there? (Obviously not talking about bikes...)
