I'm waiting for WINJA to come in and tell us how just because it's a Honda, Fishslayer's bike couldn't beat a one legged puppy. Countdown starts.... now.

Back when I was a JuniorHoon(TM) on my mighty TS125 I used to come home from my girlfriend's house in the morning after spending the night, get dressed in work clothes and go to work. As I was generally in a hurry (not a morning person, usually woke later than I should) I would rocket off the lights (combination of reacting to the change sooner as I was watching the side road's lights go to amber then red so I was anticipating the change to green ahead of me) and the acceleration of a light bike compared with a car) get up to 50km/h and settle there. In my rear view mirrors cars would be way behind me caning it to try to catch me and I'd be well and truly stopped at the next red light before they caught up. Then it would happen all over again. Used to get home in quite short order despite the lights and not breaking the speed limit because I was in front of anything that might slow me down.

I must have appeared to be going like the clappers to the car drivers because I'd vanish and they couldn't catch up until I had stopped, but I never once exceeded the posted speed limit. They were probably wondering what was in that tiny bike hidden behind the clouds of blue smoke...

Acceleration does have a definite edge. You're not allowed to do the top speed of a decent bike or car on our roads (not allowed to do the top speed of even the TS125 in town) but you can certainly put enough of a gap between you and the cars behind you off the line that they cannot legally catch up with you even though all you've done is accelerate to the legal limit and stay there.

The "excessive acceleration" law might bite you on the arse these days, tho'. What's the deal with that? Is it defined by actual acceleration rate or by engine revs? If the former, most bikes would be screwed without breaking a sweat; if the latter, you can leave most cars in "a shower of shit" without red-lining most decent bikes... the engine certainly wouldn't sound like it was being thrashed.

So now they're not only saying how fast we aren't allowed to go but how fast we aren't allowed to accellerate? For farks sakes!!
Am I still allowed to wipe backwards?

Nope, you now have to smear it forward across your nuts.

    Or use an approved bidet...

Good point, what's excessive acceleration for a vehicle that's quicker than 99% of all cars?

I lurve acceleration... even more so now... Tested its acceleration once so far, and it literally felt like I left my brain behind, and when slowing, it caught up again I have no idea how the modern thou riders feel... must be insane.

Acceleration rocks, overtaking, getting into gaps, getting out of a closing gap when splitting... anything. Not to mention, the bike can break any speed limit in first gear... so top speed is for the race track.

Another trick is when turning into a road with two lanes, you wait to see which lane the vehicle in front chooses, then you pass it
