Not sure if this has been posted before but I'm curious to know how many of us bikes/bikers there are out on the road in NZ?
A quick search on Google says that around 2% of all vehicles registered in NZ are motorcycles. So what's the total then? Anyone know?

Isn't there around 1 vehicle for every NZer? That would make about 80,000 m/c

hmmm that 42,000 seems low at first, but then you have to remember that every farmer has atleast one farm/dirt bike and possibly a quad too.

I have 11 bikes, of which 3 are road registered, & Im not the only one,so the official stats are really only a very rough guide as to how many bikes are actually out there hiding in peoples sheds

Know a couple of guy with bikes that have not been registered for a while.
Totals can be any ones guess. Same guess as how many guns are around.

I think that the number of licences issued for motorcycles would be an interesting stat. Even if half turned up at the steps of Parliment they would make one hell of a lot of noise.
