NZising consists of turning off various bands.
All frequencies are the same as the US.
Other importers have promulgated misinformation to make their $1700 price tag seem justified.

Programming is done via the main and mute swiches

I think I need to look seriously at a detector so will watch this thread with interest.

Would be good to see the setup! How about possibility of an extra mounting but not the detector? I just upgraded the bacon sniffer in the cage to a Bel pro RX65 and that is working nicely, but would like to fit onto the bike when required...

No worries. As I've said before we'll probably use 3 suppliers so we only need to order what is required. I'm getting a mount compatability document detailing the required mount for each bike. We have to get that right.

By the way, the PM repsonses have been overwelming.

A buddy of mine has quite an old but reliable detector and it has saved our ass's a few times. I would be keen to have my own tho cos I have to be rite on his tail to benefit from it...
How easily does it mount and would it be suitable for an XI Buell... thinking maybe above the dash?

It's a nice thought, but www.cartertonryan.co.nz does V1's for around $750.00 with full warranty.

No, but neither does Finns estimate. There are cheaper options than the HARD system too. A piezo helmet speaker set-up costs way less.

Thanks Lou. That is a really good price for a V1 in NZ especially given it comes with a warranty. The price I quoted didn't include the HARD system or the mount.

Yes the piezo system is cheap but I preferred the HARD system as there's no wires and a bright flashing light doesn't cause you permanent sphincter damage when it goes off.

Well done Finn offering to help others. I'm with lou though. I got a V1 + HARD from Ryan and it seemed a good deal, top service. gave me extra wiring connections because at the time I had 2 bikes.
One thing, Ryan supposedly re-jigged,re-programmed mine for NZ or whatever but I still get more false alarms than others I know. You said you had the re-programming instructions from Valentine to switch off K and x bands. Would appreciate how this is done so i can check mine. Apart from some press buttons options (All modes, logic or smart logic) do you have to open the casing of the detector to get inside to re-jig bands?
Oh, and to those wondering if its worth it - hell yeah without the detector on I feel like a George Bush supporter who has accidentally stumbled into Osama Bin Laden's birthday bash.

This is a great idea, and part of what KB is all about. I would be interested in following up on this. BUT the only suggestion I have is that the Escort X50 is supposed to be THE best m/c detector. Is this one an option??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
