I'll give it a go but I'd say at that price he'd be on small margins anyway.Originally Posted by Momentum

You ripper. Been after that for ages.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
I've checked and the best price in NZ for a new V1 is $799. They are $399US direct from Valentine. At an exchange rate of .68 that's $586NZ. Let's say it costs $40 to post it (insured) $626NZ. That's still $173 cheaper.
Okay you'd have to send it back to the US if anything ever went wrong but that's what all the resellers in NZ do anyway.
$799 is a good price for a reseller in NZ. I still don't mind doing this if people are interested. I'm still getting PM's about it so will keep you posted. The V1 and the HARD system will be easy however we'll have to be careful getting the mounts in from the US as there are many differant types but I am gettng a compatability chart sent to me.
Just trying to save you guys some bucks.![]()

Okay, here's the pics of my installation. The grey box you see is the HARD transmitter that just plugs into the side of the V1 radar. What you don't see is the wireless receiver that I wedged into the foam insert of the cheek pad. All you see is the LED light. I also attached a small video taken from inside the helmet showing the light going off. It actually flashes, it's just that the camera freaked out.
Sorry for hogging this thread but hey, I did start it!
Another couple of reasons why I don't think an ear plug speaker thingy is that good is that...
1) It has wires flapping around
2) I wear ear plugs to reduce the wind noise and a ear plug speaker thingy will not work all that well as a noise reducer
Just my opinion.
Don't argue with me either.
Finn, was that your RR in AMPS a week or so ago? The black RR i saw had the detector mount and black/smoked indictors?!
If it was, where did you get the indicators from mate? and i'll be interested in a detector

No it wasn't me. Mine is a repsol.Originally Posted by boomer
All I can contribute is that I run a V1 on the Busa, mounted on a locally made stem mount & use a peice of clear plastic tube that tucks in my helmet infront my ear and sits on the side of the V1 beside the sounder secured by wide rubber band. I'm not saying it is better than the other remotes but has proved cheap & efficient - it just pulls out from the helmet if you forget to disconnect.
I got my V1 on trademe for $700, got the mount made for a favour & the tube cost $2. Pm me for photo or details.
Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow arent just the 4 cycles of an engine

Might be pretty keen. One question though - I was reading through a radar detector seller's website which someone posted on the thread I started and I recall it saying that the Valentine 1 detector is inferior to the Bel ones?
Google it mate. There are heaps of tests and reviews. The V1 seems to have the edge.Originally Posted by SuperDave
Definatly interested in this but as mentioned before what does it mean by hard wire?? Are they POP2? not that i know what this means just seen it on some models advertised
It's better to Burn out than to Fade away - Cause thats value for money!!
Sounds like a good deal. The other option here is to go for an Escort x50 which will cost 480 odd NZ new on trade me. This is a good detector although some say the V1 has better laser sensor. I am running the X50 hardwired in with no complaints at all. You can pick up a handlebar mount for about $160 to $170 here as well. If you don't wont the HARD system which is very nice but a few bucks worth then a $10 mono earpiece from Dick Smiths can be used to plug into the detector. Hope this helps.
