Washout on 22

I went down 22 yesterday and just a bit north of the Franklin boundary, maybe 8 or 10 k south of Pukekawa ??? (can't be more specific sorry) came round a bend to find a fairly (as in bugger me) rough bit of road where there had been a washout. Right on a corner, only one lane and that very bumpy, quite thick loose metal and a reverse camber. The bike skidded and slid and jumped around and got through safely, no thanks to the rider I suspect. Anyone been that way may be able to be more specific as to where it is.

yeah, happened something like 6 months ago, may be more.
There were two, but one has been filled in. This monster is still there to catch us out. Just watch for the signs and count how many more minors ones are along the way!

I have come across plenty of washouts but this was a WASHOUT. Sorry if was repeating what everybody else knew already.

Hmm... I might have ruined my rear shock on a large bump just before the first washout. Damnit. It is leaking I think, just very slowly and is starting to stop leaking now (not enough to drip). Hopefully it will re-seal or something.

I dropped my bike there yesterday.

No damage as I wasn't moving and thanks to my crash bungs, front tyre entered a bit of gravel that was deeper than it seemed and slid making the bike lean over and keep leaning over...... until I couldn't hold it up and had to set it down....

All the way back we were surfing a river of Tar - too many wiggles and mini slides for my liking.......

Firefight dammit -- that gravel at the washout has got deeper over the past few months.... When are you repairing that bloody road of yours............... there are no marshalls standing around to warn us, no run-off areas, no support vehicles....... arghhh...... and where's the bloody pit area hidden???

'large bump'? care to pick one?!?!
wipe off the oil, ride for the day, check it. if there's more oil, you've probably blown a seal or something. get it checked before it kills you.

Firefight will be able to pinpoint the *exact* location when he reads/replies to this thread, but as has already been said this happened months ago, I have ridden thru that gravel one lane bit of road you speak of many times and IMO it has actually improved and flattened out over the months. Small group of us rode thru about 3 weeks ago and just as long as you keep up the momentum and the bike straight you'll get thru without any worries! JSG sorry to hear you dropped it, but like you said, you "weren't moving"!!! :eyepoke:
