    Scott Carpenter 20/01/75 - 05/01/06

    Hello everyone,

I am Scott's brother, Glen. On the 5th of Jan. I recieved a call from my father telling me that Scott had died on his bike. Living in Canada, my wife and I had a long flight home to be with my family, and say goodbye to the nicest bloke a guy could ever know.

We never realised how interested Scott was in biking. Just today I managed to access his computer and learned how much research he had done, asking questions to other riders, and read all his posts on KB. From all the assessments of him on KB, you were all right on the money. He always did all his homework before he did anything. He was honest, genuine, and caring. He was very careful. I couldn't ask for a better brother.

On the 9th of January, we said goodbye to Scott, we had a beautiful service at home, and perfect weather. It was a hard day for us all, and it continues to be hard, but we are working through our loss, and eventually life will go on.

A big thankyou to all posters on KB for your thoughts, commiserations, and comments. From what I have read on the site today, he enjoyed his riding immensly, and enjoyed being a part of a tight knit community, as I'm sure you all do.

Our thoughts will always be with you Scotty, we'll have a Tui for you...

Glen, I can not begin to think what your family has been through having never lost someone that close myself. While I never met Scott he came across as a very level headed person, unlike most new riders he took the time to ask the right questions and took as much care as he could with his riding.

I can not speak for the site collectively but I know it means a lot to me that you took the time to join here and post your thoughts. Losing a fellow rider is always something painful to us, and when they are a member here it feels like we have all lost a friend.

I wish you and your family all the strength through this trying time.

Just a shame one who had so much potential as a member of our group was taken so soon and so suddenly.

I know what you're going through Glen... just make sure you remember the good times and he'll always be in your heart and mind.

The collective tends to make it's thoughts known pretty clearly - watch this thread.

RIP Scott, and the others we have lost.

    Glen,

The pain will some day go away. Time is the only healer.
Remember, it's not who he was, but who he IS and he is with you in your hearts always.

I only just found out about this now. Having only briefly spoken with him online, he had an enthusiasm that showed through even over the internet - I was already looking forward to meeting him for a newbie ride.

But I do know one thing: He's riding the eternal twisties now, and I am SO getting my arse kicked when we finally ride together. Here's to you, Scott

Sorry to hear of your loss Glen. Never met Scott but enjoyed his posts. No words can convey you and your family's loss. I had a close friend many years ago lose his life on a bike. He still rides into the sunset. I'm sure Scott's doing the same.

We were gutted to hear that sad news, esp. so soon after he started riding. Scott's attention to detail was meticulous, and he had made a lot of cyberspace friends while on KB. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

As Soctt's brother you must be proud of the man he had shown himself to be. Not only on here but in 'real' life as well. Remember not his passing but celebrate his life. Ride well Scott.

I was looking forward to meeting Scott at some stage, but sadly was not to be. I'm glad that you've taken the time to look into this part of his life because he had gained a lot of respect in his short time here. My condolences to you and your family

Our thoughts are with you and your family. Hope you get the strength to look back on the good times, not only the loss and pain of the present.

Thanks for making the effort to post a message, even those of us who did not know Scott personally feel the loss, and have some idea of what your family will be going through. Appreciate your contact.

    Thank you Glen.

Thank you Glen, it is strange how well you can bond with a virtual stranger with nothing but a common interest ( ) and a computer screen. We all share your loss. John.
