Buellbabes take on the HOG Rally

This is a tad long so I am gonna split it up and attach pics... there were some beautiful bikes there... I took 80+ pics!
Here goes for anyone who is interested...sorry its taken so long to post this!

Well after nearly a week on the road getting there (touring with Dangerous, Rashika and AJturbo) and a bit of alcohol consumed, stories and laughter shared... Rashika and I were well primed for a Harley rally!
Thursday arvo we arrived, erected the tent, jeez my tent is big enuf (just!) for 2 peeps with yr gear outside under the outer flaps... bloody hell, some of our neighbours had freaking mansions! How DO ya carry a tent that big plus airbed etc... on a bike? AND these particular ‘campers’ would have 2-up on their bikes...
Oh well each to their own, I’m a bit of a minimalist when it comes to touring! Anyway, tent sorted! Rally pack collected and inspected, new t-shirt, sponge to wash bike, lollies etc... (memory failing a bit!) then it was onto the important stuff, locating the bar.
That was easy to find and it didn’t take long before some familar faces were spotted and some new acquantences made!
Casual meal was followed by more beverages... by this time it was so damn hot inside that nearly everyone was gathered outside admiring bikes, chatting, drinking, bullshitting... and drinking...
As Rashika and I had our own bar in the tent we spent most of the rest of Thursday night outside til we decided that we really ought to check out the band... DOH! Kicked ourselves cos the band, ‘the Nerds’, were bloody great! Boogied the rest of the night away til they shut up shop and kicked us outside. There was just me, Rashika, our good mate Gnome and our new mate Knackers... Gnome produced some bourbon and the memory gets decidedly hazy after that.
All I know is that I woke up next morning in my sleeping bag still fully clothed (apart from boots) and with a U.P.I (unidentified party injury) on my left palm... hmmm must have fallen over before crawling into the tent!

Day 2 and 3 to follow...

    Day 2
Friday nearly everyone rode out to Pukekohe to watch some awesome stunt riding by a couple of bikes and some impressive burnouts by a Holden. But the really cool thing was that they announced that anyone who was keen was welcome to do a few laps around the track!
Jesus I thought I had seen it all but this was SOOOOOO funny. Every man and his dog had a go... even my mate on his Ultraglide WITH sidecar!!!

Friday arvo we caught up with lads, AJ and Dangerous. We decided to do the Sky Tower which would have been fine except that the previous nights bedtime bourbons had caught up with me and there I was at the top of the the blimmin tower fighting the urge to chuck!!!
Well being the seasoned party animal that I am I was over it by the time we got back to the rally and Friday night was a repeat performance of Thursday except that the numbers had doubled!
Bla bla bla... drink drink drink...bla bla bla

    Day 3

Saturday was the ‘Thunder Ride’. Bloody awesome. Auckland Chapter lead the ride as we were the hosts and being towards the front is definately a better ride :-) We meandered down Great South rd thru Manurewa, Papakura, Drury out into the country thru Waiuku and Puke then back to the rally site. The whole ride was led by a cop car and the cops stopped ALL the traffic for us the entire way! F**ken brilliant, getting a lump in the throat just thinking about it! ( Note to self; must harden up! ). Anyway I just love doing those rides and seeing the gob-smacked looks on peoples faces and the neatest thing was to see ear to ear grins on the faces of the cops as well.
Met up with KBr Hailwood and his lady, bloody nice couple... then went for a wee scoot up to Puhoi for a beer... I think Puhoi restored Dangerous’ good mood cos he was pleasantly surprised to find that I wasn’t kidding when I had said that ALL bikes were welcome up there ;-)

Saturday night at rally was another repeat performance except that Dangerous had to come onto the dancefloor and tap me on the shoulder... “we are heading back to the house, got an early start, are you coming with us?”.... hmmmm.... now experience has taught me that when my mates leave its time for me to leave as well cos otherwise I will end up staying up all night with my ‘new’ mates and feel like death the next day so I put my sensible hat on and left with them!
Must admit it was nice to sleep in my own bed again...

Damn good rally and I am looking forward to doing the March Hare in a few weeks followed by some Southern tiki-touring ...yee ha!

now what I shoulda done is primed you on how to work my camera so you could have taken some pics of us all out there, cos I know I had a ball out there and I would have loved to see some decent pics of us on the track...ah well, next time.

Excellant writeup BB, just about covers everything...I still cant work out how you sustained your war injuries that night, I did hear a lot of laughing but I cant remember any falling over bits.

Saturday night was the funniest for me. A bloody Orange, white and black Buell turns up here with some ginger winger stating "Just went to check the oil and I wound up here"

Realy good to meet you girls (albeit breifly) and cool to catch up with Dangermouse and AJ again.
