A glorious day in THE Bay
Today dawned an absolute cracker-fine, sunny, no wind.. bike riders' heaven. Jim2 stayed with us last night and was heading back to Welly today, so we took the opportunity to show him some of the best roads and scenery in the country.MSTRS pillioned hXc (still another 15 days till he can sit his licence so the Spada spent the day in the shed-again). We set off out the driveway and the first whoopsie- I dropped it on the road and 'eliminated' the knob off the brake lever-not a good look! Gassed up and away we went around behind Te Mata Peak on the Waimarama Rd, then down to Patangata for a lunch stop, they don't do lunches on Monday but he said he could do some wedges for us. We sat outside in their great garden bar in the 30 deg cool...Stopped at various scenic points for photos along the way and one other stop for Jim2 to tell me to refocus after a wide corner taking manouevre.. naughty girl! We split up on the road to Otane, Jim2 off to Welly and we three headed home as I was really starting to get tired- you must remember I'm an old lady and fairly new to all of this- it taxes my brain quite a bit.
After we left Jim we met up with a herd of cows and associated muck on the road, in lots of places the tar was very sticky also. Headed off down the Expressway and I surprised MSTRS by lane splitting at the lights- have to say that I surprised myself as well!
It was a great ride, about 150 ks - which is not a lot for some of you dudes and dudessess but the longest one I've done. I learned heaps and improve every ride, so I'm feeling right chuffed with myself.
Best of all, the bike didn't seem to bear a grudge after I dumped her unceremoniously on the road.
