    Not a bad idea Paul.
?sdrawkcab stsop eht etirw dluoc eW. That should keep them busy.

Big ups to the truck driver that gave some of us the headlight flash. Im sure I would have been stopped wrecklessly riding.

What leaves me with the bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing is not so much that someone got caught (sorry bud), but the 5-0 clearly used the thread to find us last night. We didnt specificly say "we are going to go for a ride tonight and cause mayhem and knowingly endanger some people".

I don't value radar detectors. Radar has "instant on" so if it's not on, you don't get it. You have to rely on the cop being lazy and leaving it on, or pinging someone else up ahead and you picking up the scatter. Laser is worse, bugger all scatter and basically a radar detector just tells you you've been pinged. Too late by then.

If I were considering another radar I'd be looking at a jammer not a detector. So what if it's illegal, so's speeding. If you're not ready to take the consequences, don't do it in the first place.

My preference is a good set of tyres, confidence, local knowledge and a good understanding of police procedure. That'll get you out of the big tickets better than any radar detector will.

You can get carried away in the heat of the moment and make a bad desigion which could have grave consequences and no one wants that...not even the police.

Look, don't take this the wrong way but it's their job to do that... Try to look at it from the 'other' side. Don't take it personally just because you consider yourself 'nice' people.. Being nice, working, educated and a biker does not place you above the law or give you a get out of jail free card. Effectively, a group of people are conspiring to break the law.. Of course they have to do something about it...

Plus, lets think about it. EVERY Thursday night for quite some time a group of Wellington bikers has been out enjoying themselves... How long do you think you can do that without them noticing or other regular commuters commenting or complaining? How many KB stickers, tee shirts etc do you think they have seen... The amazing thing is not that someone finally got pinged but that they left you alone and you got away with it for so long..

Paul - you are right. It is amazing that we havent been bothered by the local HP until now. Im just a bit het-up about it I guess. It is possible that said cop just knew about the rides, but happened to be up there. He did pull over a ute/4WD.

You should take that theory up directly with Ramius.

Radar jammers are illegal because you need to be a licenced to transmit on the radio airwaves, which is what a radar jammer does.
Laser however, being optical, has no transmission licencing system.

Just incase, I'm removing my personal contact details from my profile. As it is possible for the Police to gain access to the KB database if they pursue it.

What pisses me off about the Police force is that there is no one individual Police member with the balls to setup a two minute profile. Log in here and raise his/her concerns!
That would be a respectful thing to do.
Obviously they would get shit slung from all directions, but us KB'ers would have to agree that they were being reasonable and rational.

So how about it coppers? Afterall, your White Nissan Maxima mufti cop on the rimutakas (thursday night) insists he reads the forums. Why doesn't he speak up like our multiple other Police members do? Or are these WGTN cops (like the Maxima dude) leaving all the dirty work to the female officers?

    Shit Mikey, Keep it down!

I've got to get my crops replanted before this shit weather sets in hard. Last thing I need is cops on the hill on Cultivation Sundays!
I don't have enough plants to pay off the cops and keep the local Colleges supplied! Not until next seasons crops get cranking!
Although I have got plenty of P now, the whole lacing trick has been working a dream. Great for buisiness. Even got Two regular officers now!

I posted this on the 'Cops watching KB' thread.
I think we're over estimated our importance in the big scheme. I've heard there was a sweep up of boy racers at the LH carpark Thursday night. My guess is we were just a a small unexpected side dish that fell in their lap.
As for the HP waiting at Kaitoke. What's new about that, they've been turning up there for years. HP patrol highways! It's their job, get used to it. Amazing thing is how often they leave us alone. Throwing shit at them on here is not going to help is it. That's clever, lets abuse every cop and then we can all have something to moan about because we've invited them to target us.
I do enough stupid stuff myself to attract their attention without having the local plod full of anti-bikers.
So can we have some calm now.
If any Plod reads this. You're a great bunch, we love you, it's just some of us have a strange way of expressing it. Now I'm sure you have other more important types to pursue instead of boring bikers. If that doesn't work, I for one support the alternative back hander approach to traffic fines.

Too true MD. When I spoke with the HP investigator that was working Sam's death he told me that they know full well where we go and what we get up too. They aint stupid. They give a fair bit of tolerance really. Moral is don't ride like cunts on the main highway and don't fuck off other car drivers and don't fuck off the law. If some cop pulls you up take it on the chin, then find out his name and email him some dirty photos, that way he'll get the sack. (PT)
