Then there's the people who aren't too sharp on the law. Like the "gentleman" who pulled out on me as I was about to pass on passing lanes. I switched to the left lane, passed him and drove away.
20 k's further on Plod pulled me over, the dawn of recognition in his eyes when I told him about the passing lanes was funny to see. He'd only been told I'd passed on the left, not that I was in a separate lane.
From this point of view, you can see why they don't take complaints seriously.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

It's a good point... maybe a tag line in the letter confirming our availability to testify against them might help?

Jees - I'd happily do it

It is interesting cause two cars can collide, only witnesses are the drivers, Police attend, didn't see the acident but decide who was at fault (sometimes not correct*) and issue notice.

    eg* (actual Insurance Claim)

Driver on main road, momentarily looks down to tune radio, driver reverses out of driveway so has not seen driver on main road. Collision..driver gets pinged for 'Not Paying Attention'. Guess argument is that his brief lapse prevented him from stopping quicker etc. A bit tough.....maybe I am wrong.

    Best eg (actual Insurance Claim)

Driver looses control on bend. Ends up in front garden of house. Gets pinged for 'Inconsiderate parking'.....tis true, could not believe it myself.

Rider and Driver have an issue, Rider reports to Police but no certainty of any action....personally I just avoid confrontation....at worse I point finger at my helmet and raise my hand to say whats up doc.....but reporting dumasses must be a difficult issue for the cops....

Last week was going over the Pie-cock hill with 3 others. We were going fairly hard but not doing any silly speeds or crossing the centre line on blind corners. Anyway we stopped at the lookout at the top and about five minutes later a van pulled in behind us, driver pulled out a notebook and (presumably) wrote down out regos, then drove off. I'm not sure what kind of letters we're going to get. I know I won't be getting one cos I was standing behind my bike and the rego wasn't showing.

At that point you approach him and ask him why he was deliberatley trying to run you off the road, when he says he wasnt you say well I have 3 witnesses that will say you did

Personally, I'll dob anyone in who is blatantly reckless, or is drunk, or carrying kids unrestrained in a vehicle, and I'd expect them to do the same as me, if everyone thinks everyone is watching, and gives a shit, then people behave.

Gotto be pretty dangerouse before I go down to the potting shed. Think I might have one coming up. Going down the oneway system in my 4x4, passed this red car, indicated then changed lanes. Bastard gave me a long hoot on the horn. However before I indicated I could see the car fully in my rear view mirror so it was not as if I cut him off. Think he had a problem with 4x4's
