Then there's the people who aren't too sharp on the law. Like the "gentleman" who pulled out on me as I was about to pass on passing lanes. I switched to the left lane, passed him and drove away.
20 k's further on Plod pulled me over, the dawn of recognition in his eyes when I told him about the passing lanes was funny to see. He'd only been told I'd passed on the left, not that I was in a separate lane.
From this point of view, you can see why they don't take complaints seriously.

(Heavy sigh here) Unless you are prepared to go to Court on the matter there is NOTHING (barring sending them a snotty letter) the Police can do if the person accused denies the action you complained about, o.k.?

It's a good point... maybe a tag line in the letter confirming our availability to testify against them might help?

It is interesting cause two cars can collide, only witnesses are the drivers, Police attend, didn't see the acident but decide who was at fault (sometimes not correct*) and issue notice.

Driver on main road, momentarily looks down to tune radio, driver reverses out of driveway so has not seen driver on main road. Collision..driver gets pinged for 'Not Paying Attention'. Guess argument is that his brief lapse prevented him from stopping quicker etc. A bit tough.....maybe I am wrong.

Anyway we stopped at the lookout at the top and about five minutes later a van pulled in behind us, driver pulled out a notebook and (presumably) wrote down out regos, then drove off. I'm not sure what kind of letters we're going to get. I know I won't be getting one cos I was standing behind my bike and the rego wasn't showing.

Personally, I'll dob anyone in who is blatantly reckless, or is drunk, or carrying kids unrestrained in a vehicle, and I'd expect them to do the same as me, if everyone thinks everyone is watching, and gives a shit, then people behave.
