Why is the rear tyre on my bike 'feathered' in the oppostie direction to that of the rear tyres of my hot-rod??
Going by the direction of the feathering the tyre must spend spinning rearwards than forwards - this is only on the outer third on each side of the tyre, the centre third seems 'normal' (If you look at the tyre from behind)

It's because the forces acting on the outer edge of the tyre are pushing from the centre of the tyre towards the egde when you are turning, 90degrees to the usual fore/aft accelerating and braking forces.
Due to the angle of the tread pattern, it will be the trailing edge of the tread that feathers.
It's just one of those days, where you don't wanna wake up,
everything is fucked, everybody sucks,
You don't really know why but you wanna justify ripping someone's head off

I think it's because you generally turn in off throttle, and because the tyre diameter reduces towards the outside it adds to the decelleration....

Yeah,engine braking into the corner,my XLV750 had very strong engine braking and that type of wear was extreme on it's rear tyre.
Change your riding pattern - toss the bike down and enter the corner under throttle,I think this will reverse the wear pattern....
