    MotoGP tickets

Have decided to go over to the Aussie GP this year. Can anybody advise the best way to get admission tickets from here in NZ?

Ticketec do a lot of these sales. Try this.

I've used Ticketec for the past two years, and have bought seats in the Gardner Straight grandstand. Use the net and pay via credit card. Very happy with the service (receive them in the mail about a week after making the booking) and the seats.

Though this year for a change we thought we'd probably try the Ducati hospitality tent.

Okay, that's great, thanks. I'll do the Ticketec thing. Another question...where is a good place to view the race? I talked to a workmate who went last year and he said to get general admission as there are some excellent spots away from the stands.

I do note that Suzuki but...

The Honda Riders Club are planning a group tour to the Moto GP this year. I don't think they'll mind your Suzuki too much. At least not more than me cheering for Rossi on his Yamaha. It costs $35.00 per year but comes with a break-down service.

    Just a thought

Some of our mates do the "general admission" thing and wander around the track to pick a spot. I personally prefer to have a seat to go to, particularly on the Sunday. If you get a grandstand seat you can still wander around the track at will. I personally like the Gardner Straight stand as you're right across from the pits, and right at the start/finish line. It's also very close to the Expo tent so you can get lots of shopping done.

It's all about personal taste really.

Im real keen to go this year, and have free accommodation in Melbourne. The only issue is gettting from Melbourne City to the track. Should I hire a bike or car, or just rely on public transport?

There's apparently very good bus services that run on the Saturday and Sunday from Melbourne to the track and return. Have a look at the Phillip Island website to get the information (sorry but I can't remember what the address is - just do a search on "phillip island motogp")

I'm sure you won't regret going......

Some of us join a Dealer Club and get hand fed by pretty girls and drink beer. On the other hand some do it hard...

Gardener Straight , then wander for the support races , One thing I would have like is one of those Miniture tvs as the race was live ( when we went ) and the TV coveraged was great ...Was a good deal that one !

A few of us are heading over too. Tickets aren't on sale yet but I got the general admission ones when I went ('03) and they were fine. I did the bus thing too which worked out really well. A few of us are going this year too and are thinking of tenting at the site beside the track this year but the only worry I have is that the weather can turn to crap real quick out there.

Culd you let us know when the tickets do come on sale? Maybe throw a post up or something. The bloke that I'm going over with has apparently got friends who live not far from Phillip Island so sounds like we can get a bed there for a couple of nights. I work for AirNZ so can get over there pretty cheaply too which is a bonus.

Might want to check it's still there... I have heard two very different stories about that campground. We done 'Rent-a-house', B&B and Motel. Never camped, and with the time of year it's on this time, I'm not going to.

Ok - I heard there were some changes going on but not exactly what. We just figured we'd do that because it was the cheapest option, but it would absolutely suck if the weather was like it was when I went. Where did you track down your rental house? I'd be quite keen to do that depending on the price.

Les - yeah I'll try and remember to post when the tickets come on sale.

Started with these two links: http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/vic/phillipisland and http://www.phillipisland.net.au/ and then worked our way out. The Info Centre on the Island is real good. They contact B&B's that were booked up till they got a contact for one that they didn't have listed and gave us the email address.

Look for the Real Estate companies on the Island too - they handle rental houses. Can't find the web links at the moment.

EDIT: found one (from the second link search Real Estate then Googled the names. Friends have used this one: http://www.phillipislandre.com.au/
