CBR problems.

So anyway, i was all ready to take my CBR250 for its rego and warrant when my bike decided it didnt wanna play...

Whenever i put my bike into gear it turns off. When its in nuetral it runs fine. The clutch seems to be working fine and it doesnt jolt forward as if its stalling, it just turns off...

Has anyone had a problem like this before?
If so, any info would be great.

Side stand?! otherwise its 'cos it's a honda

Make sure your kickstand is correctly 'homed (for want of a better word)... Dont know if CBR250's have a kill switch if the stand isn't up correctly or not..

Sounds like switch/sensor for the sidestand has crapped itself. Thats the first place I would look anyway.

Looks to me like:

To start the bike, the starter relay must have a ground path to work. It can get this if the bike is in neutral. Otherwise, the sidestand must be up and the clutch in to start it when in gear. You can see these two paths on the circuit above.

The CDI needs to see ground on the G/W wire, otherwise it will stop ignition events. That means the side stand must be in the up position. If the engine cuts out when put in gear, its probably the sidestand switch and associated circuit thats faulty.
