    Rider down - Wellington

There have been reports of a rider who came off his bike early this morning at Petone. The body was on the road and bike was not seen, may have been on the overbridge. I have heard that a truck was involved.

Does anyone have more accurate information - Linda?

Saw orange marks sprayed on the road. Looks like the person was heading to Wgtn.

I haven't heard anything, but saw the marks, looks like the bike may have been heading into town and the truck hit into the back of it? Never good when they paint the road.

Have put some feelers out to see what I can find.

Yeah but this was a person shaped outline. Looks like the guy was shunted from the rear by the truck and went flying over the bridge into the traffic underneath, where he was hit by oncoming cars. Not good.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Have made some enquiries, but still not able to find anything out. I'm still on the case.

Apparently this is what happened. Although I'm not sure about the shunted part, I was talking to someone yesterday who had heard it on the news. Poor guy/gal! :disapint:

I drove over the Petone overbridge yesterday afternoon and this is what I saw:

Going over the brigde heading into wellington, the two lanes merge into one and then the bridge turns to the left as it's about to merge with SH2.
Just on that corner there was a single skid mark about 2 metres long, then marks on the barrier.

What I'm guessing has happened, the biker hasn't taken the corner, locked up and gone into the barrier and then has been flung over the barrier and onto SH2.
