    Stunts @ 4 & Rotary Drags

Did anyone go to the 4 & Rotary Drags today? There were two guys doing some nice wheelies and other stunts, one of the guys did a wheelie the whole quater mile, as well as some other cool stuff. The only thing that bothers me is that the only safety equipment they were wearing was helmets... Surely stunt riders would know the dangers of driving without gloves and jackets?

ok, i read white trash's article, but still, these guys weren't on pit bikes, they were on nice big road bikes, the one guy was wheelie-ing all the way onto the back guard occasionally... All i think is that in a public show (like drag racing events), professional bikers (or people crazy enough ) should set a good example of wearing proper equipment... oh well... that's ethics for you...

The thing is with these guys like anything, once you get so good at stunting whatever, it just becomes second nature to them, and crashes etc are rare, you become confident enough in your own ability that you wont crash, and they'll know and accept the outcome if they do, shit happens.

Stunters are pretty cool aren't they? But how cool would they look in leathers that restrict a bit of movement? I think the main reason is as lossebruce said, its second nature to them, but also... Stunters look better wearing no protective gear....

Can I ask Why it bothers you?

Does it have any effect on you wether they're wearing gear or not?

Why to bikers feel the need to be so overly responsible for others that they'll harp on about safety gear all the time. It's getting a bit tiresome.

hmmm... ok, I guess the lack of protective gear does look more "I'M THIS GOOD" and it doesn't restrict movement, and yes, as a new rider (no bike yet), reading some posts I would just expect people to wear safety gear, but I now see the point that loosebruce made.

Thanks anyway... I think I'm done with this post now thanks for the responses

Spewing that I missed it, I shot down to the Natz at about 1AM on Sunday morning but had to many cops in tow to be able to stop in, guttered.

What kind of bikes were they on? what colour/make/model?

About the leathers thing ... there was a guy who used to ride a yellow 400, with a few 'mild mods' = stoppies, wheelies and burn-outs with three people on the bike! he used to be in full leathers, but like he said "its all relatively low-speed stuff".
I wave to every biker I see.

unfortunately I'm too much of a noob to tell what bikes they were (can't even remember what color), but they handled them really well... one of the guys did a wheelie with the pillion passanger leaning back. Looked just like the Las Vegas Extremes

yep that was cool it was a refreshing change to all the crappy rota's. i was in the pits and some cock jocky started his pp 12a (no doubt) shitter up at 5:30 am. They say bikes are loud, no way! those bikes where the quitest vehicles to go down the strip and they had after market pipes.
The dude on the blade was the man, sitting on the tank feet foward over the handlebars pulling wheelies all over the place! and the homo's watching could hardly be arsed clapping, but went nuts when a guy got his cock out, shows where they are at aye.
Its the last nats i will go to, it was gay and the show was even worse !

Wear what you want in my book. It's your skin that gets lost not anyone elses. I fart around doing stunts and agree with Ghosty that it gets seriously hot! In saying that though I do wear a jacket and gloves (mostly).
