At the Bayview Hotel yesterday, we watched this silly tart, hike up her skirt and climb on the back of some dudes Harley- not a helmet in sight! Her foot, clad so daintily in pretty pink jandals, slid off the pillion peg- loverly exhaust burn on her leg!! There are some people you just can't help! Yes, they did go up the road for a fang...
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans
If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...
I agree completely. I couldn't imagine any rule being imposed on anyone in New Zealand telling them which bike they can ride. That just seems so unfair and who is others to be sticking their nose into other peoples business anyway, People should be allowed to do whatever they want.. (glances into memory when some strange guy in a blue uniform made me pay $400 just because he thought that I shouldn't be riding that bike) and people should be able to do whatever they want.Originally Posted by inlinefour
After all, we know it is not illegal to put you tongue in a light socket. You should try that sometime. You should also be able to break into your neighbours place and take his stuff because you know it is illegal for them to protect what is theirs. If they shoot at you they will get charged. If they beat the crap out of you then they will also be charged.
If you havent got my point yet, the discussion is not what is legal,, it is what is a good idea....
If everyone went around ignoring all the stupid people and keeping their opinions to themselves then how are stupid people going to get smarter?
Saw a guy riding around yesterday wearing just shorts and a helmet. Not even a t shirt. Made me wonder what a bumblebee in the nipple feels like at 50km/h?

IMO some people need to get over themselves and look at improving themselves, rather than pointing out everyone elses faults...![]()
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
If your not wearing the rest then why wear a helmet?
If you want to scream about with no protection then go for it, but get medical insurance so we don’t have to pay for your shortsightedness.
I've seen a few riders about with the gear but the kids on the back have nothing!
If you’re going to take your son/daughter somewhere then at least get them a bit of a chance!
We all have our little obsessions...
This seems to be a contentious issue every time its mentioned. Alot of '' dummy spitting'' from those who think they can walk on water and alot of '' intelligent comments '' from those who know they cant. The only bit of apparel i will change in this weather is to jeans, everything else stays. Its easy enuff to to flick the lid, jacket, gloves when ya stop but taking off the pants at a pub only happens after 8 beers not when you arrive. I have seen so many bikers over the past few days thinking they're on a surf board ,not a bikei do care, but i dont

i agree as when i pick up my son from school i make sure i take gear for him to wear ( jacket etc ) and bloody good bootsand have seen people in scuffs as foot wear bloody idiots
Give it heapsbuy a R1
Just like you have a choice to start this thread and voice your opinion (which i agree with btw), so does any rider have a a choice to wear what he/she likes! I would ignore those who are opposing your choice on this occasion, because they are guilty of what they accuse you of lol!Originally Posted by flyingscotsman

I sometimes see riders in shorts, tee, jandals, etc and my first thought is "wot an idyot", but then i remember that i too can be labelled an idjot at times when i neglect to wear FULL protection!! but innit great to have the choice...![]()

A few cops chasing them as well . I have a great urge to ride after that day out yesterday. Better wear the leathers or the PC police will get me.....

FULL protection....
??
So what is the minimum?? If your going from complaining about someone riding down the motorway in shorts, t shirt and jandals to someone riding round the middle of Tahuna in sandshoes, shorts and t shirt there is abit of difference isn't there?
My 2 cents... I think the *minimum* anyone should be wearing before they start the bike should be covered footwear, long pants and a jacket with some armour on it. (and a helmet of course). Sure, if you are wearing sweatpants and come off it isn't going to supply a whole heap of protection but at least it *looks* like you give a fuck.
pufff riding in jandels is great the feeling of wind between your toes is fantastic.
NZ is a free country so its nice to wear what you want on a bike (bar the helmet) and i think the guppy that had a stress about me ridding in shorts and jandels should go home, if i was focused on worring about my safety i sure would not ride a motorbike.
Your personal choice people,
and for all the old fullas yes my arse has tasted gravel before, works well as a mental speed limiter
Hell i would recomemd having your first prang with non protective gears on, puts the fear of god in you.
Just been out West to Sth Head and back, was rather hot and when I stopped I sweated like a pig! All the bikers I saw were wearing all the right gear, though. But while I agree it's everyone's choice to wear proper gear or not, I personally won't ride without it. I am keenly aware that falling off at virtually any speed is gonna hurt, so I want to try to minimise the hurt as much as possible. I feel for the poor guys and gals who have to literally pick up the pieces and he's got a point, whether you agree or not is up to you. It's like a lot of commonsense issues, really. For ex. most people who smoke say they don't care about the health risks, but just talk to a few who've just been told they have cancer and it's terminal. A friend died last year from cancer from smoking but only after they'd cut out most of his face and throat! Horrible way to go! So's sliding down tarseal in your skin! It's only when the consequences arrive in their horrible reality that some finally click that maybe their "free choice" wasn't such acrash-hot, (pardon the pun), idea after all. 'course it's too late then to change your mind...
