let me know if someone wants to set this up. I'll volunteer gladly.

Someone (the same group of youth that broke in to my house on 3 Dec 05) tried breaking into my house again yesterday, but luckily one of us was home so they decided to drive off very quickly.
Unfortunately we didn't catch their rego number.
It was a dark grey Nissan (either 4-door skyline or Primera) pre-1996. Spotted around Mt. Albert area, but they are not local to my home area.
4 or 5 young males of caucassian, maori and polynesian descent, normally playing loud music.

I will be the volunteer also.I saw there are some new cameras on the traffic lights in each main conjunction, if the police use that thing to tracking down theivs it will be much more efficient.

Nope, they are for catching speeding drivers and finding illegally parked cars for ticketing...

of course this begs the question: what are we paying our pleece to do? protect us from scum, or ticket the memorably named "Joe Punchclock" for 5kph over an arbitrary and pointless speed limit?

Its been said before I know, but bears repeating.

The coppers in the UK have or are trialing facial recognition software that enables known crims to be id'd from traffic light cameras, I think? Maybe it would be an invasion of the poor sods privacy but my view is that if you are going to commit crime and impinge on peoples rights then you're effectively giving up yours (rights). Same goes for prison - go to jail for punishment not a holiday!

Can someone help me down off my soapbox please - I'm done

Concrete tank justice - Put all the murders, rapists, child molesters in a concrete tank and let 'em fight it out, then it'll only cost ya one bullet - for the last one standing....
