    Wellington accident this morning

Anyone know the rider who crashed on a red/purplish Suzuki RG150 on the way into Wellington on SH2 this morning? Looks like it went into the back of a van just past the Horokiwi intersection this morning. When we got past it (7.40am-ish) there was just the van, the bike, a couple of other cars and two cop cars.

Hope the rider is not too bad.

It's a conspiracy. The LTSA in conjunction with the ACC want to get rid of motorbikes completely. So they're going round spreading gravel on roads, putting agents in cars to do sudden U-turns in front of bikes, bringing out dangerous Kiwifruit Sprayers onto the roads and so on. And of course to make sure their devious plan works they've had to turn on the fine weather
to get as many riders as possible out on the roads...

I like a good conspiracy theory, well done Mike!

Bike accidents are disturbing but serve as a reminder to be careful out there, particularly as winter approaches.

I crashed my bike two weeks ago after school.Took a lot of skin off of my knee and elbow, last time I ride while I'm sick . Can't say I wanted to leave it parked in the school for the night though.

A lot of road works around at the moment. Almost fell off the scoot on Wednesday on gravel. Was up by Todd Park in Porirua and got a wee glint in my eye when I saw it but should have realised that fairly hard Michelin tyres on a scoot + gravel doesn't mix as well as an Evo 6 on rally tyres + gravel!

Any bike riders have problems with rocks being kicked up & hurled at you at the speed of light?
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

Yep. And the worst thing of all, is that, even if you see it and are fully aware of were it is going (ie, right at ME), you can't do a damn thing about it!
