Lump lingered last in line for brains,

Trisank--Youre prolly right dude -I had other things to worry about at the time --Like--eeep what excuse am I gonna think of etc etc -lucky for me he was "interviewing " a car driver
So watch out for a dark blue XR8
Theres a few other "interesting bits on old nth today but probably irellevant cill closer to the day.

My 2c: What about the downhill left hander into downhill right hander coming from the Peaks-Old North intersection?Originally Posted by FROSTY
I'd argue that is the most technical part of this stretch of Old North. Certainly the owners of the house on the outside of the right hander think so..
Thanks for that Frosty, just the sorta info I was looking for. I'm busy trying to map the whole area, then its off to see the routes, and which works best, how many k, so on.
Cops aren't really a worry, since the learners will only be doing 110 tops (or the leaders SHOULD be...)

Okay just been up sh16 today with merwood.
The road is in generally nice nick, the resurfacing that involved a cone and my bike and a construction worker controlled stop/go along brynderwyns is done... - fucking nice surface and you can get some decent lean going on without any trouble.
That (45k?) left hand corner on old north is still shitty, and keeps getting worse, if you go on the corrugations with anything less than a beemer you will end up in the shrubs![]()
Traffic was a bit average coming back but the way there was fantastic.
And on a final note... gpr100's own!
As an alternative, turn right at Kaukop onto Kahikitea Flat Road, head south on 17 down through Dairy Flat and turn right onto Coatsville Riverhead Hwy back through to the foot of Old North Rd.Originally Posted by Keystone19
65 kms all up and a really god ride. 30mins for a quick(ish) ride, probably 40 - 45 for a gaggle of newbies.
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details
bump!

Yes, bump indeed...
Ride update - Looks like me and Gremlin are gonna be scouting the route this weekend so we can setup what stops to use and generally know where we're going.
Will post more details on Monday.
Over and out.
Right, post 3 contains an update, route has been set.
Now, come on all potential leaders, instructors and newbies. This day is for newbies, we cater for you guys specifically. Sign up and get some advice on your riding.
edit: Weasel is putting the time in the first post.

not wanting too sound like an idiot but being on a learners you can only go 70 kph on the open road.......
so going up there is going to take a while if your only going to do 70 or are you guys just gunna go for it
anyways lol
i aint one to breach conditions of my license after only just getting it lol
There was provision for a 70kph group. In fact the difference is surprisingly small by the end of the day. There's more to motorcycling than a blur y' know

ill try be there.....depends if my bike is back together by then
Standard ride protocol applies...
If you wanna move from one group to another then please just give me a shout at one of the stops, so that our leaders / tail end charlies know who they've got.
Also, noticed a few people were gassing up as we were about the leave last time, so for you newer folks, good form is to gas up as soon as you arrive, that way went we're ready we can hit the roads.
Any questions... feel free to post up here or PM me, and if you're lucky I might even respond![]()
I can lead a group if you like, i know that road quite well, even where most of the shit on the road (potholes etc) are before i come around corners.
There are a few parts to watch for newbie riders, one being the 35kmh right hander uphill that switches to 35kmh left and then back to the right (needs to done in low gear and not at too much speed as vehicles coming the other way tend to cut the corner - both ways, its known as a downhill reducing radius corner (the disappearing type) so it pays to take it slow. This is near the start.
Then there is a similar setup - medium pace left into 25-30kmh tight changing to a 45kmh sweeper - uphill its not to bad if done at learner pace, but if you take it to fast going back it gets interesting. Also there tends to be oil/petrol/crap on this corner in the wet.
The last thing i would keep in mind is the 45kmh setup about 10km from Wellsford (after the lookout) again if taken at a moderate pace no problems - but just keep an eye on it cause you dont want people bunching up too close if the person in front aint sure about the cornering speed.
does i sound like i know it yet?![]()
