Thanks for organising these newbie rides. Missed the first one, but am looking forward to 5th March.

Are you guys going to give tips on cornering, etc?

Not if you want to have a few stops AND stay within the law...

Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

    Good good...

No idea as yet of ride length, but it'll be more than 2 hours I'd imagine.

We'll be running at a legal pace, with break stops and a lunch somewhere...

Remember this ride is about passing on tips the experienced riders have to the newer riders, and for the new riders to get experience and confidence in their own abilities.

I'm sure Gremin could pipe up on a rough time for the day, as I've not actually done the ride myself yet

Nearer 4 hours than 2 I'd say. Remember, some will be limited to 70kph, and the beginners may want to stop a bit to rest and recover.

EDIT: Auckland to Wellsford is 85km - maybe a bit more or a bit less by this route and starting point. That's 170km round trip. Max of 70kph is unlikely to average more than 50kph , so that 3.5 hours travelling time. Plus breaks, lunch etc

I recommend the pub/cafe on the left where 16 meets 1 in Wellsford (name?), good tucker and reasonable cost, nice beer too!
AND they do coffee and other stuff too!
I may be able to come along if another helper type is needed, PM me and I will confirm availability.

Would love to come along again. The last one was on my wife's birthday but some skillful negotiation got me on the ride. 5 March happens to be the day my daughter is getting married. Sorry I don't have enough money to buy my way out of that one. Have fun, be safe and I shall look forward to reading the reports. Might have to do it solo at some time.

Shell Westgate is at the end of the Northwestern Motorway. Turn left at the end of the motorway and continue on for 300 metres or so through two sets of lights. You will see the Shell station on your left just before the roundabout. Entry is before the roundabout but past the second set of lights.
