I see your problem. Have you test ridden both of the specific models you are looking at??

I would guess that aprilia would be more expensive for parts and servicing, is it still more worth it??

From your budget of $10k, $4k is 2/5 extra... would you think the rsv can give you 2/5 extra fun, and if problems arise, be able to afford them, having spent the extra $4k??

lol Gremlin that beasty is $35G aus worth of bike (at 1997) custom fuel injection 138ps (dyno measured at R&E australia) 95 ZX7R frame, 95 ZX9R motor, RC30 swingarm etc (would be nice though ) its from Streetbike issue 44 , a bloke named Brendon Findlay owned in & a guy named Geoff Braddock built it with help from Peter Doyle ( Kawasaki Australia CEO )

yeah the ZX750N is a dynamite machine but all top end go ( which is what their about though ) nowhere near as tractable as std model, took a lot of skill to ride them fast properly

Not a limited run mate, they are the new K6-7 SV - S's still they should chuck the ol TL motor in it, not the refined SV version.

Hey... The SV looks nice in silver with the fairing !... However I looked up the tank range and it's only 200k so it's off my list.

I'm up in AKL next weekend for work, gonna do some serious looking the week after that, IE take back some time in lieu and use it to test/buy a bike.

    Man... I can't wait.

I've heard a rumour that what Bruce loses in fuel economy he makes up by saving wear on front tyres...

My 02 636 would prob do 240k to a tank if you were commuting. And you'd get one for $10k I'd expect. But with only 118hp it might not spin your wheels (no pun intended).

Yep, but I try and keep pics of it out of the public domain. Too many of your workmates might recognise it. Nothing personal. The internet is a small place.

    Hahahhahaha... Sorry.

I get what you mean though... you'll be sitting in a cafe in Iceland or something and some crazy eyed guy with a three foot beard will come up and say "heeeeey, Warrt a nice 636 you are having, would you like some pickled reindeer ?" (I have no idea what an Icelandic accent sounds like)

I saw a black 636 with the underseat pipe today with the gold bits... Nice...

RE the bikes, if I can't get an RSV cheap enough I'll look out for a 7R, I've missed out on the one on TM coz I don't get the money till the end of the week

Who knows ? I may still get a GSXR once I've spent a few days test riding things.

Shit it could be, pretty sure i saw in SBK mag that the new S model was going to look like that, but then again a Ltd Edition Suzuki Model as in the Corona 600, and how many of them are around?

As for TL and mileage, i aint the best too comment i've had it as bad as 98km and the feul light came on (track) to 190oddkm (best ever, best behaved too) 220 is the most i have ever got out and that was dry, long walk to the petrol station. really 160km open road and 130-140kph commuting.

But yea most twins are thirsty, just the way it is.

Aprilia RSV. (just out of my price range , but I may find one) MMMmmmm
Ducati 900ss 98 up. 916 too focussed for commuting... Tank range may be too small ? Fully faired a bit hideous.
GSXR 1000. Why not ? Bit average looking, pillion seat up to much ?
    Fireblade. Bit normal.
SV1000. Cheap for a newish bike... Looks don't appeal I love the TLS/TLR but tank range is tiny. I know people says it's ugly but I love the em !
ZX9R > 98. Nice bike... A bit average looking. (although I like the plain black or blue C1/2)
ZX7R > 2000. Ok, I like Kwakas Gorgeous but I don't want to always feel like I want more grunt/less weight. I could sit in the garage staring at it for hours though.
ZX10r... Hahahaha... Too expensive, but I'd like one.
I'm convinced that list of prospective machines and your 240kms before reserve requirement are mutually exclusive. Sorry fella, an evil plot of mad bassa sports bike makers and even more evil oil barons.

Daddy just got a new bike, a nice red TL1000s from TSS in WGTN...

Decided to get a fun bike and keep the ZXR for commuting as well... The GSXR1000 was just too much $ in the end and I'd hate to put slow 30-35k on it in a year.

Thanks everyone for your help deciding, it really came down to getting one of the bikes I'd always wanted... It was that or a ZX7R... I've already had some ZXRs and the 7r wouldn't be that different... So the TLs/r was all that was left.

I tried a TLR and it was a bit porky and lacked real grunt till the top end of the revs. (could have just been the one I tried) The TLS on the other hand felt a bit raw and wobbly, I kinda like that.

Hopefully I wont get spat off it too soon I'll be riding like a nana until I've had a good couple of weeks on it to get used to how it handles etc...

Then again, I did go over the Paekak hill on the way home playing wheelie stoppie wheelie stoppie So like an angry nana kind of.

    Thanks again,

    Sedge.

Don't be mean, your little fecker bike goes round corners waaaay faster than it should. I just have to make sure to brake on the way out of them so I don't run it over... And your little melon too... It'd look real funny with a ZXR sticking out of it, the melon I mean, not the KR.
