It would so long as it got stolen from your garage. Otherwise perhaps not, but still worth a try.
I heard it covers kids bikes stolen from school and the likes so don't see why not.
Your insurance company will confirm for you pretty quickly.

Yes they are covered provided they are locked securely when they are stolen. They are normally covered to a max $1500 unless you get extra cover for them.
And if it was stolen it couldn't have been locked securely enough?
I rang AMI when I bought my current MTB to advise them as it was worth $2k. They told me at the time that I didn't need to advise them as it would've been covered anyway, but they still took down the details. I don't know what the upper price limit was for automatic cover under Contents policy.

need to check your policy as AMi have 3 different types of contents policy but most policies cover subject to a policy limit (if not specified) and cover 'away from dwelling' covered.
