I figured I'd take some insulation tape up to do the head lights, but other than that...what do I need to do?

I'm also keen to have a chat to someone with a bit of experence on the track to get a heads up on things like getting out of the way of faster riders, flag colours, etc.
they will go over your bike, looking at chain health, loose bits etc so make sure its all good.
make sure your tyres are in good nic and at the correct pressure
    and relax, have fun
    c u there!

Just a note to those who are riding from Welly:

Slings: I have only been to one TD but this I know: they will make you tape up/remove your mirrors as well (I think) and discourage you from looking behind you as you are not to know whats going on behind. The worst thing you could do is change your line going balls-out into a corner...just chill in the slow-learners group first (you may have to) and then step up the next session or two. I plan to do this.

Hope they don't think I need a rear brake cos mine hasn't worked for a couple of months now. And there's something shiney buried in the rear tyre dammit. Still, I can fill that in with some of the shredded rubber that's on top of the swingarm so they don't see it lol

    Another ripper track day

Good weather, good sized turnout, especially with KBers everywhere.
Shame a few came to grief but no serious damage to riders or bikes. looked like the track needed a good sweep first and the crumbling seal isn't regrowing on its own? Funny that. Maybe if they sprinkle some fertiliser on it. Who cares at the rate of deterioration it will be a good dirt track for the MXers.
I put a Diablo on the front last week but left the Bridgestone BT014 on the rear. I'll never run those OEM Bridgestones again. Bloody useless tyres those 014s , spun up out of turns far too easy and gave me a few of those 'special' moments. Far safer sticking to the wheelies.
Is it just me or does a track day leave you totally knackered by the time you ride home. Stuffed if I can face riding home from a day in Taupo! If I go it's going to have to be 2 nights in a motel and Monday off work. Unless I find a cozy brothel with good accommodation, in which case it's 3 nights. Ignore that last bit, the Summer ales kicking in.
Hope you all got home Ok with licences intact

Yeah...I'm shagged too, and I haven't ridden home yet.

So is it the Diablo or the BT014 that you're not so keen on?

My new Diablo worked a treat and the Z6 on the front held up pretty well too, it's now looking kinda cool with balled up rubber right out to the edges.

Mint day all round. When's the next one?
