    Another stolen Starck Aprilia 6.5

Just got a thing through from the Scootwell list that another one of those Starck Aprilia's got nicked from Roseneath at the weekend. Please keep an eye out for this bike and PM me or the Scootwell list (run from groups.yahoo.com) if you see it or are offered it for sale.

I suspect that this may be Des Molloy's son's bike? (unless two have been stolen from Roseneath, which is probably unlikely)

    Stolen Aprilia

The 2nd stolen Aprilia will be Des Molloy's son's bike. Here's a copy of a message from Des about it giving license plate details etc...

On completion of their recent epic classic motorcycle adventure from Beijing to
Arnhem, Des Molloy bought his son Stephen a motorcycle to show his appreciation
of the assistance he had given during this arduous adventure. The bike chosen
was a rare Aprilia Moto 6.5 Starck which had been imported from Japan. This is
the bike that was styled by the avant-garde French designer Phillipe Starck. It
is distinctive bright orange and silver and one of only a handful in New
Zealand. This was stolen tonight from Roseneath, Wellington. The registration
number is 59 WSS. Our contact phone is 04 934 4609

For information regarding the Last Hurrah adventure refer
    www.thelasthurrah.co.nz

    Please circulate

    Regards

    Des Molloy

That sucks. I'll keep an eye out down south
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

you sure they aren't being stolen for order overseas? two of them missing within short space of each other... and they're pretty distinctive so would be spotted if resold here...

I wonder how many bikes have been stolen in Wellington over the last 6 months. I can count at least a dozen I know of!
What are the Police doing??? Probably just issuing speeding tickets to those doing 60 in a 50.
There are so many dirt bikes being stolen too. I reakon its time the cops started laying some traps for these wankers.

    Well.....

An age ago my scooter got nicked. Several months later a triumphant policeman called me to inform me that they had recovered said vehicle and would I come and get it. "Whohoo!" said I, without realising that "recovered" was pigspeak for "is completely fucked".

In subsequent discussions it appears that the ministry of bacon had recovered said scooter in the company of two minors, who in turn had bought it off another for an alleged $50. My protestations of "handling stolen goods" and "are you going to kick their arses then" were met with "youth aid", "make no difference" and "no".

So, does that answer your question? The police are doing nothing. Aside from handing out speeding tickets of course.

As an aside said law 'enforcement' officer did allude to a "bigger picture" and "something obviously organised" that they are also completely failing to deal with.

In summary: There is organised bike theft in Wellington; the pigs know about it; can't or won't do anything. I now understand why small scale crime is such a valid lifestyle option for so many.

There was a write up in todays Dompost about this bike. Is it the KBers that are the "300 Wellington bikers" reffered to? I'll look but can't see too far through the clouds (karori)

I will put in a word of defence for the revenue department. Bout a year back i had two bikes stolen from my house, the fuzz called me in 8hrs to go id that the recovered bikes were in fact mine. Very speedy work. But then they told me i couldnt ride one of them home coz it had no wof:slap:
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

I saw an identical bike headed over the Rimutakas on the weekend, then I saw the same bike again riding down Willis St yesterday. Did one of these guys get their bike back, or are they both still missing. How many of these bikes in the country?

What happens to bikes that are recovered, but arent claimed. Like do they auction them off?
I wave to every biker I see.
