I am just wondering what I will have to do to change my license over when I get to NZ next week. Is it just a matter of handing in my current UK one and I will be able change it and have all the same category's it's got at the moment. I bet it costs money also money for old rope.

Are bike licences restricted in NZ, if so what?

Although my bike is enroute it will not be there for another 6weeks.

Re "bike test"; yours DOES NOT need the stupid brake test done, as it's manufactured before '02. Stick to yer guns on this. One VTNZ (a testing station) insisted on it, even after i printed off the fact sheet to show 'em; so i went to another who agreed with me.

Other than that, it'll go thru' sweet as... Not as anal here.....yet.

When time comes to get your WOF (ie - MOT), get 'em done at VTNZ type places; if you go to a bike shop they tend to stick to the manual alot more...and get a bit picky.

I never sat a test to get my NZ licence.....the AA were a bit unsure but I got an 'Exemption' letter from he NZ Embassy which deals with problems......plus my Sister has a UK bike licence and HGV and she just did the theory.....that was last week.

The general rule of thumb is that if you're bringing a bike over, you've gotta hand it off to another pom for safe keeping as you're not clued up enough to ride the NZ roads.

Just for you'll I take care of the Ducati, but it's not gonna be easy you realise.

Oh thank you very much I really appreciate that, you are so kind, when I get the bike off the boat I will tell them you are coming for it, how long will you need it to break you in?

You can use your UK licence for a year, then you have to sit the written NZ test for a bike plus car (if u want). I think the tests are about $40 each. But like I said u are OK for at least a year.

That assumes you have held your UK license for more than two years I think, or it might be one year? You'll have to check... I'm too lazy.
