    NC30 Hard to start

Ok the vfr is giving a bit of shit.
It starts no problem when hot.
Sometimes it starts no problem when cold, but at other times it wont. Each time though the motor cranks over just fine but will not fire on any cylinder.

There is no interlock on the side stand, and it is not like a Suzi where you have to hold the clutch in to even make it crank. There is an interlock on the clutch which prevents it being started in gear with the clutch released though, I assume that this is tied into the idiot light for the purposes of detecting neutral.

When hot the bike starts every time (so far) and seems to run well. Never ridden one of these before, but judging by the performance I think it is fine, doesn't miss or have any significant flat spots etc.

Usually, when it doesn't start, if it is left for a period of say anywhere from half to several hours it will start.

One such time that it wouldn't start I pulled the HT lead from one of the rear cylinders and found that it did have spark. I don't consider that conclusive that it has spark at all times as I put the lead on and it started straight away, so the intermittent problem may have been spark anyway.
Had I put the lead back on and it failed to start I feel you could pretty safely say that it was fuel that was at fault.

It would be tempting to blame the rider for flooding the bike, however my observations would tend to suggest not. Also when held at WOT and cranked it still will not start.

    Any ideas please people?

I am thinking possible problem with fuel from the tank and/or looking at the clutch interlock, though I doubt the interlock is the problem As on most hondas it simply wont crank if it is in gear with the clutch engaged.

Hi i think it may be a carb thing it could be running a bit lean, you will need to richen up the mix by turning the mixture screws out a couple of turns, just remember how many turns you do on each one in case it dosent work so you can return them back.
