Working at a cops house in recent times i asked him '' what his thoughts were on the bikes that use/frequent this rd'' (it rhymes with 'myway christene') he said that '' hes ok with them, and realise's they are only out for a squirt '' as long as they behave..... but at what point does behaving become misbehaving ??

"Christine's" a great piece of road, but yes, there do seem to be more HP's on it these days... Always careful though as you don't know what's around the next bend. Was cruising Peake Rd one day, saw a couple of sportbikes coming towards me at a fairly quick pace, but as I got further along, came around a bend to find a tractor turning right across the road. I biker got killed about 30 yrs ago as he came around a bend near Wellsford and ran smack into the rear of a tractor! Country roads are a lot of fun, but they're not racetracks and anything can happen anytime! Be smart out there! Sorry to sound like a "Nanna", but as one ages one becomes more aware of how precious life is and how easy it is to lose it. Just ask Kim Kennedy's family. Of course I'm allergic to pain, too...

I agree Edbear, christine is a great ride, if you treat her well, you feel pretty good at the end of it, i guess most of the farmers have been farming for a very long time and the eye's and ear's aint what they used to be, i have two new eyes and intend looking after them and using them, i dont mind riding slower to take in the scenery, i also dont mind riding quicker at times to miss some of it.

Used to be a cop that patrolled the Akaroa roads, he would come in and talk bikes to the Greg and Craig. I got involved in a conversation with him once as he was a biker and a cop, so I wanted to know his opinion on speed. His words were to the effect that anything below 180ish was fine, above that he'd pull you over and depending on you attitude would deal accordingly to you. Never wanted to try it out though!
