Yep, bad news for everyone in the poker run. Been on heaps of poker runs and there are pub stops on most of them. The pubs do serve non alcoholic drinks as well, as many riders don't want to get done. Who's to say that he was pissed, or may have been on points duty and trying to get ahead. Don't worry about the assumptions and just think about all the people affected in this tragic event.
From how the news described it you could assume that, however knowing the area (and not beeing able to get home due to the closed road) i can tell you it was a "T" intersection with highway 50 turning... ie they had to turn left to stay on 50 or could keep going straight and the road chances name to Maraekakaho rd
I have attached a crappy map with highway 50 in red and included the roundabout you are thinking of
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

My parents run the Tikokino Pub and Dad said that virtually no one was drinking alcohol. (Remembering that there were a few support cars with the group.) He said they were sucking back the O/J's and Raspberry and Lemonade while they waited for the Leader of the Outlaws and his bike to turn up (apparently he was stung by a bee and was allergic....)
The Tikokino Pub was the last pub they would have been at before the accident occurred.
Now is not the time for judgement (leave that to the local CSI). My thoughts are with all those involved in this accident, especial the rider who has lost his wife to this accident
