New Avon Viper 4 me!!

Well finally threw a new loop of sticky rubber on the front after completely killing the Diablo Corsa. Went into Motohaus and saw Kerry, got a good deal from him and stoked with his recommendation on the Avon, scrubbed it in the same day and gonna give it a hammering this comming Friday.

If anyone is after new rubber I would recommend going in and seeing Kerry! top bloke and very helpful.

Anyone else running Vipers??

about 4,000 and a taupo track day.
Unfortunately the first rear was chewed up by too much commuting. Hopefully this one won't be wasted like that..
LooseBruce had a pair on his K4, he got about 1600ks out of the back..

The Vipers are a pretty damn good tyre i tried em when they first got into the country on the GSXR, sports, rear lasted 1600km, so they gave me a supersport and told me to run it at 38 instead of 32 expecting me to get more life out of it i handed it back after 950km and got another, then the bike blew up, still got the front though thats lasting well

not as good in the wet as power's though, pretty handy on the track, look cool too.

Hey LB, were those k's on the street or track? That tyre pressure you mention 38 and 32, I take it was on your front not rear?. Im running 36f and 42r at the moment, would you recommend any different? (for the road).

I got one trackday in on the supersports at pukekohe, none on the sport, i run 32 rear on the road, 34 front, less on the track. I'm not known for high mileage, 2500km and i'm stoked with a rear.

Far out thats low. Do you find you gain more traction with running those pressures?

Well it works for me, but it doesn't mean it will work for you or anyone else, tyers have improved a lot in the last 5 years or so, the carcuss's of older tyres say Michelin Pilot Sports, you'd need to run them softer to get flex in the carcuss to build heat up, but nowadays the carcuss's are made to offer good flex at higher psi and still hold shape so to speak, i did find the sport sliding very easy at 32psi cold but it was very nice and controlable, the supersport did seem to have more outright grip but still didn't get the expected mileage gain at higher psi, pushing at the track they still cook, but they are road tyre still, Brendan from Avon even said there is no need to lower your psi at the track with the new technology they use.

It's hard changing from something you know works and feel comfy with to something you don't know, but i'm up for some experimenting once i get the GSXR up and running this weekend, should catch up for a ride Fishslayer, i'm prolly heading out coro on the 25th, teh GSXR will be hungry for some Blade

Yep blades are on all gixxers menus, quite a delicacy and easy to eat. Got bloody uni all that weekend of the 25th and 26th so yet another coro ride I have to miss out on grrrrr!. Will be keen to catch up for a ride at some stage though, might even pop in to Hells sometime soon and say gidday. You work most afternoons?

i work all the time

monday night off tuesday night off, every other day night i work, apart from sat/sun day which i ride now, maybe, see how the coin goes on tyres, petrols not a issue.
