Just replying TS, to say that I'm glad you didn't get hurt.
WKO's advise has been good![]()
It is easy for us to pass judgement on others and forget that we often make the same mistakes.
We have probably all at one time or another put our bikes in the same position (and will most likely do so again) and have forgotten it has we came away unscathed.
You might not be the best rider (you were doing better than me at Puke and I had the bigger bike), but even the "best" cock it up sometimes (often at lot faster speeds, with more deadly results). This is all part of the choice we make when we ride.
Went for a ride on Saturday organised by Planet Honda (Whangarei). I was beating myself up for riding like a Nana as the fastter riders passed me up until we all stopped for one of the riders who had canned. He had found a bit of pea-metal on a corner (I had gone over the same patch, but I was not cornering as hard) and slid off the road. Bike had to be trailered, but the rider was OK. Stopped beating myself up after that. Realised that I had been riding appropriately for the conditions and my abilities, instead of riding to be one of the fastest.
They say that "there is only the quick and the dead" or "to be fast or your last". What they forget to tell you that often the quick are the dead! Who wants to be the first one to die?
Sorry got a bit morbid there:confused2
