MASSIVE crash in the Winter olympics

    Oh, my god.

This American woman, Samantha Retrosi, had this absolutely massive crash on the luge. She lost it on a curve, smacked her head and skidded the rest of the way down unconscious.

    The slideshow is incredible too.

    She's OK, by the way.

120 odd kays and clips the roof wearing nothing but a helmet and lycra, ouch.
Cringed when I first saw it on TV.

    Cool

    amazing

and i don't see a single post on here calling the contestants f#$kwits for not wearing full armoured leathers, boots and gloves ........

how come no-one takes this 'protective clothing' arguement thru to its logical conclusion??

Wow, now thats a place to know some sense into you.

    Cool

Just wait til the "Skeleton" comes on... thats them riding that contraption on their bellys and head at the front of the machine. Now that is REAL scarey.

I know one of the kiwi's doing it in the womens section.
Her name is Louise.... so watch out for her and how she goes in it.
Its her first olympics and has been doing this for the past 5 years competing overseas - Europe, Canada and USA etc etc.

Skeleton is a mad sport and I told her that.. she laughed.... she has no fear and loves it... a real adrelian (sp) buzz.

Because if you are an experienced biker on this site, then wearing a helmet is all the protection that anyone needs...

The winter olympics... THE BEST OLYMPICS!!!
    Nobody running around in circles
Nobody playing tennis, basketball (paid professional sports - go figure) or especially SYNCHRONISED FUCKING SWIMMING!!!

Just high speed shit. Bobsled, luge, toboggan, slalom, Giant slalom, ski jumping!!! and interesting shit like biathalon (skiing AND shooting!!!).

    Love it!

She was going pretty damn quick wasn't she? It's sickening when you see that limp body go hurtling past.
Along with the other sports (and don't gimme no shit) I admire those guys that do ice scating. Now before you start crying poofter and all that shit, think about it. Have ever tried to do a 1080 degree spin off the ground? And chucking those chicks around and then catching them? That take some strength (even though they probably are poofs - never seen a pairs partner get a woody ....)
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Yeah that looked pretty nasty when she crashed alright.. They didn't say anything about her condition on tv last night so it's good to know she didn't get too nailed!

as Jeremy Clarkson said - 'luge - the only sport you can win when you're dead'

and i like the comment on the news - 'she suffered a little concussion'. she looked DEAD when she was sliding down the track!
