    Jap model restrictions (929

Hey, anyone know whether or not the 929's that came out of Japan were restricted or not?

Just got one, goes well, great torque, but felt a bit breathless around 240 from a top gear roll-on. Not sure whether going through 5th in to 6th would help it pick up, didn't get another chance to try it, as I didn't have a screwdriver to take the plate off.

I wrote more before but something went bung with the post...

929 was 2000 onwards I think. They dropped 10kgs and gained a few horses after those models that you hate. I was looking for an SRAD actually, I love those bikes, but this CBR came up at a good price, and resale will be better than on an SRAD I believe. After a Welli to Akl ride, I'm quite liking it too. Gotta admit it does look a bit gay though.

Restricted to people with good taste.

I had a 2001 that was a second hand import from USA and a friend had a 2000 929, sold as new in NZ. We had no rev/speed restrictions apart from those recommended speed signs on our roads. As the billboards say they are not a target. It should pull hard into the 260s.
Sound great with a Micron pipe.

it's coz them is sport-tourer bikes. And a bloody great one on it too.

I owned one. Great for Motorways. Not bad for twisties either.

Suck a bit in the track, though.

Update: Just had it dyno'd at Red Baron: bog standard, 127bhp at the rear, so it's not restricted after all, just naturally gutless.

I've since had about 260km/h out of it too.

Puke tomorrow will see if it's got more in it.
