Need a bit of help with finding someone

just wondering if someone who has contacts at post shop or whatever could look up all the info on my old vt250f rego 13thx as the guy i sold it to still hasn't changed the rego over, and i don't really want to pay that guys fines, fuck i hate ltnz this is such a stupid process, why can't i just give them the new owners details and that be it, it's not as if i'd want to give ownership of my bike away for free

You can go into an AA and get them to suspend the registration or summat like that. Don't think it costs but it sure does get things happening quick at the other end!

i think you'll find that if you have filled out your side of the sellers change of ownership papers then the buyer will be getting little notes from the LTSA about needing him to do the same. there are fines involved for not doing it in under a week i am sure.

I just spoke to a guy who told me that a car he sold had changed hands 3 times before it was crashed then the insurance company came gunning for him to pay costs (of the other car). How long did you sell the vehicle? Have you posted in your MR10a (I don't know I think it's something like that number) anyway the sellers form that you have to fill out? If you've posted that along with the buyers details then you can contact the LTSA on 0800-108-809 and they'll be able to note it on their system that you've disposed of the vehicle. The other thing you can do to stop yourself from getting stung is either de-register the vehicle or suspend it. Neither of which will cost you. To de-registered it you will need to go to the AA or posty office and fill out a form. If you say that the vehicle was taken to a wreckers and you don't have the plates that's fine apparently or tell them you lost them (the plates). The down side of that is that the new owners will want to know WTF is going on, when they go to get registration for the car. It costs $300 to re-register and vin a car so they may not be happy. LTSA won't chase you for 2 years if the new owners don't get registration so you may get stung with 2 full years of back rego to pay.
I'd say call LTSA and see if they can help. (They're f*cking useless but, who knows?)

Send him an email saying exactly what you intend to do so that if he does come back at ya, you're covered. But I'd say de-reg it.

Mate to cover your arse legally just unbolt the plate and the contact him so there's no chance of being looked at by the coppa's.
You are entitled to do so...and then give him the option on paying the $10 to change it or de-rego the bike.

Got a pic? I'm trying to gauge purchasing a bike and what I'll get for my bucks. May even feel like getting into the repo business.
